For a truly relaxing and exclusive experience in Gatura, the best area to stay is within the private conservancies and estates, particularly those bordering the Aberdare Forest.

These conservancies offer a tranquil escape, far from the main roads, with properties often featuring panoramic views of the forest and surrounding tea plantations. You'll find yourself surrounded by nature, with opportunities for guided walks and wildlife spotting right on your doorstep. This setting is particularly well-suited for couples seeking a romantic and private retreat.

For families, staying within one of the larger, well-established estates offers a blend of comfort and activities. These properties often provide spacious accommodation, dedicated play areas, and organised excursions suitable for all ages, such as nature trails or visits to local farms.

The best time to go to Gatura is during the long dry season, which runs from June to October, or the short dry season, from December to February.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring, with less rainfall and generally sunny skies. This is ideal for outdoor activities like visiting the tea plantations, going on nature walks, or simply enjoying the scenic landscapes around Gatura.

For travellers interested in agricultural tourism, these dry months are also a good time to see the tea-picking process in full swing.
