Along with the two bedrooms, there is an additional space to sleep on a fold down couch in Den. We stocked the kitchen with a Thanksgiving meal in mind, so bring your culinary skills! The porches are the perfect place to watch the world go by with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The location is ideal for making your way to the shops and restaurants on Main Street. Leave your car and walk 8-10 minutes and you are in the heart of the fun! Grant Park is just across the pedestrian bridge from downtown. If you are looking to enjoy the outdoors, The river trail is just below Grant Park and you can kayak on the Galena River. There are kayak rental locations near the river. In the winter, there's skiing or hiking at Chestnut Mountain. We've got some brochures in our Welcome Book as well. History is front and center in Galena-- so whether you check out the homes of President Grant, hop on the Trolley Tour, visit the Galena History Museum or just walk around the Historic District, you'll feel like a step back in time. There is never a shortage of things to do in Galena, no matter the season. We are happy to welcome you to this beautiful part of the world. The location to downtown Galena was perfect, just a short walk down the hill. The house was stocked with plenty of towels and linens. The beds were very cozy and there was plenty of room to spread out. Sipping a hot cup of coffee on the porch in the morning was a perfect start to the day and game night at the kitchen table was a blast. The light switches were all labeled making it very easy to know what switch to flip. Loved the decorative touches that were authentic to a bygone era. Beautiful kitchen, easy parking right next to the house. It was easy to walk to the downtown area. We did note that it got a bit quiet and dark at night, but walking as a pair felt okay (wouldn’t have walked home alone). The only thing to consider about this place is that there are several steps to climb up to get to the entrance and the steps need repair, so probably not ideal for anyone who might have trouble with steps. Walking distance to Main Street and easy to get to from US 20\. There are some steps to climb from the street, so try to pack light! So many cute little touches, a porch swing and rockers, antique phones, comfy beds. We loved our stay, and would stay again! ##### Gloria C. The beds were very comfortable. The location was ideal. It was close enough to downtown to easily walk, but far enough not to have to deal with parking/noise issues. Sitting on hill, there are quite a few steps from the street parking to the door. It was a very enjoyable trip and would recommend staying here. ##### Gail A.
