Constructed During the golden age of architecture on the Amalfi Coast, Villa Benedetta was for many years the retreat of two classic Italian ladies; two sisters, dedicated to art and culture, who gave birth to a family refuge perched far away from any confusion, every intrusion, every banality and vulgarity of the world. The beach is directly under the villa and there you will find one of the most beautiful fishing villages on the Amalfi Coast with a little church, bars, wonderful restaurants all scattered here and there along romantic little lanes. The responsiveness and friendliness we received was much appreciated! The villa is a 60 stair climb from the main road in the area that results in spectacular views from 3 sides! Amazing location overlooking the ocean and the beach club below. Walking distance to some great restaurants and any easy pickup location for boat shuttles and excursions up and down the coast. We enjoyed our first evening at Villa Benedetta having dinner on the terrace, curated and served by Chef Balda. A candle lit dinner under a beautiful star fall with fresh ocean breezes. Chef Balda meticulously paired each serving with excellent wines. All the food was either from his farm or locally selected. You will never have olive oil beyond his own. All the wines were of his own vintage. Maria, your host, made this recommendation along with many others, from transportation to local dining to grocery delivery!! Maria was thorough, kind, loving and generous with her time and understanding. She was very prompt in her response from before our stay, all the way until we departed. The area is amazing for floating in the Mediterranean Sea, day trip to Positano, water taxis at your request, and good meals right in Marina di Praia. Views from Villa Benedetta were breathtaking, beds were comfortable, views up the mountain and over the sea were equally serene. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets were experienced every day. Cool breezes blew through the house every day. Having A/C units in each room can be very helpful in the warmer months. Praiano is not for the faint of heart as there are steep hills, stairs everywhere…great for beautiful views and walking off the delicious meals. We had the sunrise and sunset from our cliff top location. Many places did not do due to the hills. Location was perfect as Bus stop #12 was just around the corner and very walkable to restaurants and shops. At the bottom of our villa a short walk took you to the beach and marina for water taxis or day long boat tours. We would definitely stay there again next time we visit the Amalfi coast! Maria was a fantastic host helping us to book transit from Naples to Praiano, as well as providing contact details to organize a private chef on the date of our arrival (highly, highly recommend Chef Balda - multiple courses of local Amalfi Coast cuisine with not one bad dish!). We originally had only booked two nights, but loved our stay so much that we extended an additional night! Villa Benedetta is the perfect place to spend a vacation on the Amalfi Coast. The Marina di Praia is a 5 minute walk and has a beach, restaurants, and water taxis. The water taxis were very fun and a convenient alternative to the buses, which were fine to use, but often crowded. We used local taxi drivers as well and found them very responsive and helpful. Luca, our host, was wonderful and assisted with all the information we needed before and during our trip. He helped arrange our airport transfer with Alfonso who was excellent and told us about the area as we drove. Luca was always available and happy to answer my questions whenever I reached out. A highlight of the trip was Chef Balda who prepared and served the most delicious meal and local wine on the terrace of the Villa. Truly an incredible night to remember! We had a full week and visited Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Ravello, Altrani, Furore and Praiano. It was so nice after traveling around to relax and enjoy our clean spacious Villa with it's spectacular views away from the crowds. We have had this house saved in our history and waiting to go for 5 years. The location was great! Right by the Marina de prae where there is a bus stop, but we went down to the marina each day and took boat taxis to each of the locations we wanted to visit. It was awesome! The house could use a renovation. Mattresses were rough so sleeping quality wasn't great. But the view and location are awesome!! This place is a dream, mostly due to a very special location. People mention the stairs- they were my favorite part of the house, elegantly wrapping the cliffside on which the house is perfectly perched. You are on the edge of Praiano with this one, but you have Donna Clelia in the cove below which took great care of us and was a delight. Costa Diva opened on our last day in the house - very, very nice. We had hot water go out one day - Maria replied immediately and had someone come repair it within one hour.
