Beautiful "romantic suite" room overseeing the cathedral square. The food at the restaurant is delicious. Do NOT follow the instructions on Google Maps to the hotel. Instead, use the directions that the hotel sends ahead of time for parking and location. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble.

Fantastic hotel, great location and walking distance to restaurants and shops. The staff is absolutely wonderful, so very kind and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We will definitely be back!

I had a great view of the church. Unique European hotel experience. A little difficult to figure out the car- but follow the instructions they email you.

The best hotel in a beautiful city. If you want a local feel instead of an international chain hotel, you couldn’t go wrong with the Oberkirch.

Charming and convenient
An older but charming hotel. Could use some updating and more modern touches, but still very comfortable. Great location in the heart of the old town. Convenient to the efficient tram, and walkable to the train station in case the tram happens to be shut down by a protest of some sort (very rare, but yes, that happened to us). BTW, the hotel operations changed hands Dec. 1, 2022. We happened to meet and chat with the new owner, who also has some other fine properties in town. Seems like a very nice and very competent guy.

Perfect location, classy accommodation. The only drawback is that the hotel doesn't actually face onto the Cathedral Square. It's located in the rear of the building which overlooks the square. Access to the square is via a narrow lane near the hotel entrance.

Fantastic hotel at which I had a wonderful stay. Great location, very friendly staff, excellent food and very comfortable and immaculately clean room. I stayed there a week and could not have been made to feel more welcome. I have highly recommend to stay here if staying Freiburg or the Black Forest, I will definitely will make a return visit.

Great hotel in an amazing location in Freiburg!
Hotel Oberkirch is perfectly located in the Altstadt in Freiburg. Seconds away from the cathedral in town square and the beautiful old market building (the red building famously in all of the photos of Freiburg's Old town!) - everywhere is easily accessible. The staff were very friendly and the property comfortable and clean. One thing that guests should be aware of is that being in such close proximity to the church, there is definitely no escaping the church bells that go off. I don't mind them and find them beautiful, but for those that are less inclined, the hotel helpfully provides earplugs in the rooms :) I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here who is visiting Freiburg and hopefully will be back soon!

Very Unique and Fun Place to Stay.
We upgraded our room at a very reasonable rate to have a Cathedral view and it was well worth it and the room was HUGE and had so much character. The daily market opens up in the morning just outside. We ate at the restaurant twice and it was very good. The breakfast was very good as well. Highly recommend for a unique place to stay.

Our room looked directly onto the cathedral and the platz which was wonderful. The hotel is very convenient to the Alt Stadt. The front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant, and parking was very convenient.

Great hotel in the middle of Freiburg city center
Great hotel in a very very central locations. Great breakfast, can be taken on the terrace facing the Freiburg Münster (main church). Also a delight for dinner, very good restaurant.

Nice room and breakfast room Sadly our room smelt of smoke. Disappointing considering we selected a superior room. Our bedroom window was above the little courtyard which is where we think the kitchen staff cam out for a smoke which ended up in our room as we sleep with the window open

The location is great. Our room looked out over Munster Plaza. The food in the restaurant was very good. It is centrally located with public transportation within easy walking distance.

Perfect historical getaway
Beautiful old hotel in the historical centre of town. The hotel was very difficult to drive to, and we weren't sent any guidance to assist but when we called the hotel, the staff were amazing - guiding us in by phone then taking our car away to park it for us. Wifi was barely adequate but I suspect that is more about old buildings than a lack of effort.

Lovely stay at this hotel in historic Freiburg. Friendly staff, high standard accommodation and nice to have complementary fruit and a chocolate. A nice touch. The Wi-Fi connection was a bit intermittent.

Hotel am Munster Platz
We stayed for one night. The room was rather old fashioned but clean and comfortable. It was on the small side but adequate for one night. Breakfast was served in the hotel nearby . You had to walk out and around the corner 3 mins away. The breakfast was good..plenty of variety .The staff were very helpful and friendly. It is in a good position in the middle of Freiburg opposite the Cathedral ...rather noisey early morning bell ringing ! Only 4 parking spaces belong to this hotel...and they have to be paid for. Its difficult to find and drive to ..You have to drive very slowly through the pedestrian precinct ! We enjoyed our visit but wouldn't choose this hotel again.

We wanted to explore The Black Forest. This Hotel was a fantastic base.It's a 10 minute walk away from the main Bus and train station and situated right on Freiburg's pretty square- perfect!

This hotel is one of the gems of Freiburg and my choice for every stay there. It is centrally located, has charm, and has good management in every respect. In meaningful details and attention it excels every hotel in its price range that I have ever stayed at in the USA.

Nice B&B-type hotel in perfect location
We stayed here for a night last week and loved it. It is perfectly situated in the heart of town next to the cathedral (ask for a cathedral view). The staff is very friendly and spoke fluent English. It was a little weird having to access our room from either the side alley or through the restaurant, but this was no big deal. The breakfast (included) and was a very nice buffet. I definitely recommend the restaurant for dinner as well. We enjoyed the old-school, B&B-type feel to the hotel as the charm and tradition are palpable, although it does feel a little cramped at times. We definitely recommend this hotel.
