"The room was clean and had a beautiful view. We also tried the restaurant on the second floor — the food was very good and the view made the experience even better.
However, there were several inconveniences that made the stay disappointing. The spa situation was frustrating: even hotel guests have to pay around $80 for only 2 hours, including mandatory use of their swimsuits and slippers. You also have to walk outside to reach the swimming pool.
Another issue was that our room was very far from the lobby, and we had to walk a long distance just to get ice. On top of that, the fridge in our room was not working, which made it extremely inconvenient if you want to keep food or drinks for an early morning excursion. The hotel also charges additional resort/tourist fees.
Overall, the stay had some positive aspects, but the extra charges and inconveniences are the reason for my 3-star review."
"This property is at the edge of Torshavn. The area around the hotel is fully safe, but it is commercial with limited eating choices. It is about a 25 minute walk to the harbor area where most of the shops and restaurants are located. It is frustrating to have to walk from the front entrance of the hotel through the parking lot and up the driveway to be able to walk anywhere. This property was not designed with pedestrians in mind. The room was clear and a good size. A bit of an odd arrangement with separate chambers for the toilet and the shower. The included breakfast was good. Be aware that it gets crowded at peak times. An intriguing detail was that the hotel had a turf roof."
"The house is beautiful and the view is lovely. We watched the boats on the water for hours. The dish washer did have mold and the shower had a bubble in the wall. The water was also somewhat low pressure if that matters to you. The place really does nail the modern comforts with traditional aesthetic. The signing book was an adorable touch. Really enjoyed the place we doubled up in the two rooms and still had plenty of room to ourselves. The location gives one easy access to the nearby towns for shopping and food and the nearby families make the whole place feel safer. If noise is a factor the place is just above a pretty major roadway"
"I had the most incredible stay at visitHOMES in Leirvík. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. The host, Lilja, is truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, so welcoming, thoughtful, and genuinely caring, which made the whole experience even more special.
The accommodation itself is so cozy and beautifully kept, the perfect place to relax and unwind after exploring the Faroe Islands. Every detail felt intentional and comforting.
Breakfast was such a highlight each morning, absolutely incredible. Lilja prepares everything herself using local ingredients and takes the time to explain what she’s made, which makes it feel so personal and special. Sitting in her kitchen enjoying a fresh, delicious breakfast was such a memorable and cozy experience.
I also have to mention Simba, the adorable cat, such a sweet and calming presence.
I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for a warm, authentic, and memorable stay in the Faroes, this is it."
"Loved my stay here! Although I traveled solo, there is sufficient room for a large family/group. The view of the fjord is extraordinary, and I found myself sitting and watching the beautiful wildlife for hours. The adjustable LED lighting in the kitchen/living room area is a very nice touch, and there are separate indirect heating thermostats to control different parts of the home. The houseboat is situated in a perfect location for driving out of Esturoy and visiting places like Gjógv, Slættaratindur, or many other places of interset for visitors. While nice and secluded, the nearest grocery or Rusan's is only ~16-20 minutes away."
