1. Hotel La Grisa

Bale

"Lovely small hotel in the small walled city of Bale. Very good breakfast buffet & excellent attached 5 star restaurant. Excellent service. For North American travellers, there is no elevator so you may want to transfer your travel items into a smaller carry-on. For the hotel, please add an in room kettle. As a traveller, sometimes you need to make yourself an herbal tea or an early morning coffee. Also, please have 100% overhead coverage of the areas connecting the buildings. It rained during...

"Very cute apartment over 3 floors with a small but fully stocked kitchen. Good air con on top 2 floors. Short steep walk (7 mins) to the top of motovun. You check in at a restaurant up the hill and one of the staff then takes you to the apartment. Free parking nearby. Only real negatives were the shower cubicle which was way too small and quite a few mozzies in the evening when drinking wine on the terrace…"

Maistra Select Belvedere Resort

8/10 Good

"No heating in the appartment at the end of October means 10degrees C at night outside… so it’s cold in the appartment as well."

Hotel Molindrio Plava Laguna

8/10 Good

"Great hotel and perfect location for our event Ironman 70.3 Poreč! Smaller room than expected (compared to photos) but soon got used to it and we used the balcony to store the bike. Comfortable bed, with adequate storage and spacious bathroom. Daily room service to replenish towels and hotel service for extra pillows and anything else you may need. We had breakfast and dinner included - both services had a wide variety of foods at the buffet that were all delicious. They even had an earlier breakfast service provided on race day which was greatly appreciated! The chefs were there to cook fresh food to keep everything replenished, and the staff were always there to help tidy away. Me and my husband enjoyed trying out the different foods each night, specially the deserts! One thing we made use of was the sauna and wellness area which you could use for 2 hours per day. We used the Sauna and steam room a lot, specially post race. Towels, water and tea were provided. My husband also used the Gym there on the first night which we were pleasantly surprised by, lots of free weights, machines and a squat rack. One highlight for me was being able to get my hair done by the hotel hair dresser, I wanted some french plaits done for the race and she managed to squeeze me in the day before. Very reasonably priced and friendly. Overall really happy with our stay, friendly staff and great experience. Such a lovely place to stay, we would come back!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Foli?

The best area to stay in Foli is the village centre, particularly around the main square and the streets immediately surrounding it.

This area is the heart of Foli, offering easy access to its local amenities. You'll find the parish church of St. Philip and James (Crkva sv. Filipa i Jakova) as a central landmark, and the surrounding streets are home to traditional Istrian houses, local shops, and a few family-run eateries. It's a compact and easily walkable area.

Couples looking for a relaxing and authentic experience will appreciate staying in the village centre. It provides a peaceful base to explore the local culture, enjoy leisurely meals, and take strolls through the historic streets. The focus here is on quiet enjoyment and local hospitality.

For families, particularly those with younger children, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre but still within a short walk is often a good option. Many villas and holiday homes in these surrounding areas offer private gardens or swimming pools, providing more space and privacy for children to play.

When is the best time to go to Foli?

The best time to visit Foili is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, or September, when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

During these months, you'll find comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 25°C, which are great for exploring the Istrian countryside, relaxing on the beaches, and enjoying outdoor activities without the intense heat of mid-summer. The sea is also warm enough for swimming from late May onwards.

For those looking for a lively beach holiday with guaranteed sunshine, July and August are also excellent, though these are the busiest and hottest months. Prices for accommodation and flights tend to be at their peak during this period, and popular attractions will be more crowded. However, if you enjoy a bustling atmosphere and don't mind the heat, these months offer a full calendar of local festivals and events.

Ultimately, your choice depends on your preference for weather, crowd levels, and the type of holiday you're seeking.

Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?

You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Foli.
