We arrived at the property to be greeted by a grumpy receptionist who was arguing with another member of staff. We were told where our room was and went up. Very tiny room with a rickety old wardrobe which you had to slam to close. We had breakfast on our first morning. Bread, cheese spread, croissants and not very Italian coffee were all that was on offer. The bathroom was tiny but functional and clean but absolutely nowhere to put toiletries. The walls were paper thin. So much so that whilst on the loo, you could hear the German gentleman in the adjacent bathroom doing his business and chatting to his wife. On our last night, at 330 am, the bins were collected outside. My partner went down later on for a cigarette and was greeted by a terse night porter. Perfect city centre location though.

Close to what you want to see
The Medici is located within steps of the Duomo and other attractions as well as a short walk to the train station. Great roof top bar with a lovely view. The staff is helpful and the room was clean. Due to its proximity to the Duomo area it can be very noisy at any hour. It does not have air conditioning so you must keep your windows open to sleep.

Very clean, great beds, nice staff. So close you can see the Duomo from the bedroom window. Breakfast not as good Would certainly return. One thing though, the bells are loud in the morning

Staff were helpful and location was Amaaaazing! I am so please to book a hotel where I could see the Duomo from my bed. It is very good value for money in the heart of Florence.

Central area, friendly and helpful management, historic building. It was very convenient, it was comfortable even on very hot and humid days, it was easy to do check-in and come in late. The breakfast is really minimal, and has too much sweetened bread or otherwise sweet packaged products, and not enough fresh fruit or protein. I would rather have less, but healthier and higher quality. The coffee was good, the ambience is also lovely, but if I had known how minimal the breakfast would be, I would have saved my money and bought breakfast outside. The wifi was also a bit unstable, it was strong when it was on, but it turned off a few times over the week. Also I had the feeling that anybody could walk in off the street and request the key to the room. My passport and/or laptop are in there, so this made me a bit uneasy, even though all was fine.

Great location. Clean rooms. Street noise was constant, especially the amplified music from the street performers - it went on until past midnight every night. As well, loud trucks, sirens, workers from nearby restaurants, the sounds of garbage being dumped, vendor stalls being moved. In an otherwise good hotel, it was quite noisy. Breakfast provided consisted of a couple of rolls and a couple of croissants, along with typical breakfast beverages. Don`t expect a breakfast resembling anything that will do you for a day out and about.

this hotel messed up our booking and relocated us to another hotel, told us it was a 5 min walk away and 3 stars but it was 10-15 min walk away and definitely did not look 3 stars to us. also, they told us city tax would remain the same but i had to pay more! moreover, i did not get the type of booking i booked for initially which was 2 beds in a room, the other hotel was so rude and unaccommodating about it!

Great location. But on arrival told no room in the hotel but given a room 5 minutes walk along cobbled crowded streets then up lots of stairs carrying our cases. Not the best to have to do at 11pm at night. We moved back to the hotel the next day. Dragging our cases behind us. Reception area extremely small and difficult to get past when people checking in and out.

Great location, acceptable condition
It is in the heart of downtown Florence, walk distance to/from nearly all major sites to visit. Condition was acceptable for the price. .... Getting there by car is nightmare due to many traffic restrictions, but not unusual for any old European town. There is no parking as such but car taken somewhere to a garage for EU 25 per 24 hours. As far as you get rid of the car, relax and enjoy the location :)

Our stay here was amazing! Great service, staff assisted us with all advice needed, our room was tidy and big and spacious with a good bathroom, a bit noisy but anywhere central is and I think it was worth the noise for the amazing location. Thank you for the stay!

You get what you pay for. I learned from my stay here, that if a hotel doesn't state it has air conditioning, assume IT DOES NOT! No screens on the windows, so had to leave open for air and allow all of the bugs to come in. No TV in the room. No amenities whatsoever. Bare bones for sure. Oh, and enjoyed the view of the mold on my ceiling. Only good thing is that it was in the heart of Florence.

Loved the location The roof top restaurant/bar was super!!!! Best view of the coty at night. I was ok without the aircknditioning; because an oscillating fan was provided. The breakfast could be better

Amazing view and great value
The hotel room had an unexpectedly beautiful view onto the cathedral dome from the balcony. The room was clean, the staff friendly and overall my stay was a great value.

There is two good things about this hotel: location and renovated bathroom the rest is not so great. There is no A/C so avoid staying there at all costs during the summer. The area is super loud so opening windows is just going to make things worse. When I booked it, I didnt realize the lack of A/C, and with the temperatures reaching almost 40C, you can imagine how hot it was inside. For winter time it would be ok, still loud but awsame location.

Location was excellent but that was all it was. There was no airconditioning(vital esp during the summer heat wave so check this which I assumed they would have!) .Had to open the windows to let in fresh air and hopefully escape the heat but the noise from the party goers below kept us up the whole night!! So I would never ever stay there again. Airconditioning would put it up 5*

Central location. Budget hotel but adequate for a short stay in Florence. 10 minutes walk to train station. As for every hotel in the area subject to the bells. Great roof garden and bar with magnificent views

I'd seen several less than favorable reviews for this hotel so I was curious. I'd stayed here 25 years ago as a student with the University of Colorado. I loved it then and I love it now. My room was immaculate. The bed was computable. The breakfast was fine (they have machines for the orange juice and coffee) and the location is unbeatable. The roof top view is exactly as I'd remembered it, a million dollar view of the Duomo, where you can dine of enjoy a drink from the bar. If anything, the hotel had IMPROVED after all this time. I've been to Florence many, many times over the years, so I know the hotels here. I only booked one night after reading the bad reviews but was sorry I didn't book my whole stay here. Next to everything you want to be next to. I'm definitely coming back.

I made my reservation and paid in advance, and I let my arrival time advised, midnight, when I arrived, there was no vacancy. So the receptionist put us, my husband and I, in a room in a building (which was not a hotel), which was located 5 blocks away. The new place did not have an overhaul working, the lights were in bad contact, the bathroom looked like a pool, had no hair dryer (as was the description of the room I would have rented), the bed was messy, towels were of poor quality, and had no wifi (as also had in the description of the room that I would have chosen) and beyond the street being strange. As soon as I arrived at this place, I came back to complain, and the receptionist said it was what he had, and said he would have to close the reception, that we would have to leave at that moment. DO NOT INDICATE !!

Location was great as it was central to all the main sights. The entrance of the hotel is rather disappointing in that its has a very untidy look and nothing special. Staff are friendly enough and helpful in that they loaned me a charger and gave me some help on tourist attractions and information. There was some birds obviously caught or nesting in the ceiling right outside my room and when I told the reception they were like we dont know.....every morning while I was there they would chirp and it was disturbing as well as sad.The lifts going to the rooms was really filthy with people spilling things and not cleaning up or maybe spitting in the lift! The room itself was standard. The walls were rather dirty, just above my bed there had been an insect that was killed and not removed! Bathroom and toilet were relatively clean but the fittings were rather flimsy in that the handle to the shower would keep coming off. The internet would not work in the rooms so you would have to go to second floor to use it and it was rather uncomfortable as you would have to sit on some filthy settees and have everyone else using the internet in the same place some would be talking at the top of their voices, so no privacy. It was very inconvenient. The breakfast was nothing special to comment on. I think don't expect luxury in this hotel unless they decide to refurbish.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. We stayed for 3 horrible nights. The show and the toilet was one in the same (ie the toilet was in the shower). There was zero water pressure in our first room, we were moved and their was barely and water pressure in the next room. The condition of the rooms were both terrible, lamps didnt work, doors falling apart (due to water damage). The advertise wifi, but it isn't in the rooms, only on level one, and level one looked like a prison.

We walked around the block twice looking for this unmarked "hotel" Once we eventually found it and went inside, gave them our name, she rummaged through a few papers, among which our booking clearly wasn't. They then proceed to pull put a tourist map, mark a spot across town and tell us they'd overbooked so we had to go to this other hotel. "Only a 10min walk" she says. Well, after travelling all day with hefty packs on our backs... No. We made them pay for our taxi but it was a horrible introduction to a new city, and the way they handled it was irresponsible and unprofessional.

We spent 2 nights at the Medici. This hotel is fine. . There are some negative reviews, but we were very comfortable. The hotel staff was great. . There was no a/c, but most of Italy has none. Great location !

Hotel is located on a corner. Rooms on via medici are noisy - trash bins for the city are located there. Rooftop terrace is amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful.
