The village is at the crossroads of Mont Lozère (observatory to visit) causses (hiking and discovery of dolmens), the Gorges du Tarn (canoeing and kayaking) and the Jonte valley (reintroduction of Vultures). We started at Capluc, a cross on a peak above Le Rozier and did the entire circuit. It's still comfortably in my top ten all time great walks. If you suffer acrophobia it's one to be avoided. The area is also something of a mecca for rock climbers. Very central, everything needed is a short walk away - free public parking, bars, restaurants, bakeries and groceries. Florac is a good base to explore from. The mountain roads can get narrow and have some sharp turns if you are not used to it, but are very well surfaced. The Gorges du Tarn and the whole countryside is glorious. The house is clean and spacious and stays cool through the hottest days. Sylvie is a very considerate host, communications were good and careful to cover all the details.
