This hotel was clean and well-designed , with friendly people and good restaurants nearby . The only negative was an over-abundant use of scent everywhere ; not natural essential oil smell , more hit you over the head piped in perfume smell . ( imo , obvi ) Overall an excellent stay , and we do recommend this hotel highly !

One of the most enjoyable hotel stays we have ever
The Universal Boutique is a very friendly and beautifully presented hotel, situated near to many good restaurants and the casino (should you wish to try your luck!) in Figueira da Foz. My wife and I spent many hours walking around this lovely town, and the walking and cycling paths available around the river and beach together more than compensate for the lack of a fitness suite or pool being available at the hotel. All staff members were extremely pleasant and helpful and, overall, we feel that this is probably one of the most enjoyable hotel stays we have ever had. Muito obrigado to all concerned.

Amazing
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing....this is a must stay in hotel in an amazing town with a spectacular beach. The service and understated efficiency of the staff was a pleasure to experience. Our room was perfectly proportioned with wrap around balconies with a sea view.(Room 402). The bed was the most comfortable that I have slept on during this trip. The breakfast was incredible and excellent value for money. During this stay a quite violent tropical storm made landfall here at Figuera da Foz which caused quite extensive damage to the town. The hotel staff remained attentive and responded well during the crisis and made extra efforts to allow us to make our connections to Lisbon the next day. Had an amazing meal locally.

Quiet Sophistication
This is a very sophisticated hotel in a surprising city by the sea. We enjoyed the hotel and appreciate the kind, thoughtful staff. I tripped on the lobby stairs on the way into the hotel with my bags. It might be helpful if the beige stairs were denoted with a stripe to make them more visible. Or, perhaps I should have asked for help in carrying my bags. We appreciated the help from the staff in finding us parking near the hotel.

Nice hotel close to the beach
we arrived late afternoon by car. there is really no room at the entrance to stop and at least unload the luggage. we had to stop right at the corner, half on the sidewalk (very small so basically blocking it for pedestrians) and half on the pedestrian crossing. fortunately we did not get any complaints and the hotel owner informed that the police does write tickets in the area. after unloading i had to drive around the block to find a parking spot for the night. it is a bit a surprise when you arrive, but at the end everything seems to work out. anything else and overall a nice place.

We had a lovely stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was also well situated for accessing both the beach and the restaurants. Our only negative was that the bed was extremely hard which made it an uncomfortable component of our otherwise lovely room.

Wonderful Hotel
Ticks all the boxes. Cant fault this place. Located only 30 seconds walk from the beach and close to all restaurants and shops. Luxury hotel at great value. Would highly recommend requesting a room with a balcony, huge balcony perfect for sunsets with a glass of wine.

Nice boutique hotel close to the beach
Very nice hotel with unique, clean, lovely room. I liked the personal touches- books on the nightstand, Nescafe machine for coffee and tea, robes, etc. We were only there for one night, but if you were staying longer, I would just note that the bathroom's roof slants down so you have to bend over in places to avoid hitting your head. I liked that it had some personality, and didn't mind it, but if we had been staying 3-4 nights it may have gotten annoying. Parking was convenient and safe, very happy to have that, and hotel was easy to find and get to.

Home away from home
Really nice place and full of caracter. The rooms are comfortable, large beds and quiet. All very well maintained to a high standard. Central location, 5 min from the beach and waterfront. We were three couples meeting up in Figueira, the hotel comfortable living area allowed a good night of conversation, and it almost felt we were at home.

Everything you want in a hotel!
We highly recommend the Universal Boutique hotel. It has everything you need for your visit to Figueira da Foz. It's minutes from the beach, shopping and restaurants. We stayed in a room with a balcony. We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the balcony. The rooms were clean and I liked how firm the bed was. The price is great compared to other 4 star hotels in the area.

A very pleasant stay in a lovely hotel
We had a lovely 1 night stay in the Universal Hotel. The hotel is only a 5 minute taxi from the train station and a 3 minute walk to the beach front. The hotel is also only a 5 minute walk to the restaurants, bars and casino of Figueira da Foz. The breakfast was superb with an array of cold meats, breads, juices, cereals, hot food and more. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and clean.

Very well located, modern and clean hotel
We came to Figuera for a long weekend and loved this hotel. It was well located, right in the centre of town near everything, but just a block from the beach. Staff were helpful and attentive. The hotel itself is in very good condition, tastefully decorated and very clean. We highly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if we were to return to Figuera.

Not what I expected from a boutique hotel
This hotel was difficult to find. Parking was almost non-existent. Breakfast was mediocre and not served on time. The staff were not helpful in finding restaurants nearby and we cannot fault them for speaking only Portuguese since this is Portugal, but every other lodging we stayed the reception and staff were conversant in English. The decor is modern. They have a good bar and it is a block from the beach.
