Keramos

10/10 Excellent

"Keramos is a wonderful family run hotel with a fantastic breakfast and"

Eva Marina Hotel

8/10 Good

"Stayed here for 7 nights. Did not have breakfast so could not comment. Room was cleaned every day but, for some reason the cleaner never made the bed. Instead he folded the top sheet and blankets neatly at the bottom of the bed each day. Very close to bith the beach and town centre but no noise from outside to disturb your sleep."

Hotel Kissandros

8/10 Good

"The lady in charge couldn’t do enough for us and she put on a decent enough breakfast each morning. Her qualities stemmed from her good nature and willingness to assist us in every way. Her lack of English language skills meant she lacked the werewithall to help on other issues such as a lack of certain bathroom equipment such as a plug for the sink. Such small inconveniences didn’t bother us but it may do others. The lady’s son attended regularly and he could speak English more than adequately. The room was always clean and everyone down at breakfast seemed to be perfectly happy with the place."

Paralos Irini Mare

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel location is fantastic, very peaceful, with well kept and beautiful grounds. Food is excellent, staff and service equally so. Whilst the rooms are basic ours was very clean and the swim up pool, whilst shared with two other rooms, felt private. We had a wonderful ten days all inclusive, which was excellent value. We'd 100% return! Not a place to go if you're bothered about watching television 🙂"

Private paradise with heated pool Peace, comfort. Goddess and large garden

10/10 Excellent

"If you are wanting a 5 star hotel this is not the place for you however if you are wanting a very Cretian villa with a beautiful pool and garden and a host who goes the extra mile then this is the place. Vagelis (the owner) simply added to the holiday with his fresh fruits, honey and oil from his own olives. He was available for any help needed. Great place to stay and great people. We would gladly visit again."

Paralos The Maxine - Adults Only

8/10 Good

"Great sea views and easy 5 minute walk to Agia Galini beach. Room 212 was spacious, bed was comfortable, pool was beautiful and had ample sun-beds and shade, and the AC worked great. Improvements that would enhance the stay include figuring out and fixing the sewage smell in the room and fixing the moldy trim outside shower. Lacked basic amenities like hair conditioner, had a bottle of hand lotion in the shower instead of hair conditioner- which was really weird. When you leave the room, all electricity turns off which means the mini refrigerator and freezer turn off- you come back to melted ice and warm beer. There is no restaurant on site. They do have a snack bar at the pool open until 5 pm. They have buffet breakfast with a lot of hot and cold choices each morning. If you want real orange juice, cappuccino, or espresso there is an additional charge (most hotels include these options via self serve machines). In the evening they offer a buffet dinner. Bar is open til late but does not serve food or snacks. We really missed having a restaurant to order from. Good news is plenty of great beach bars and tavernas were short walk away along the beach."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Faneromeni?

The best area to stay in Faneromeni is directly within the village centre, particularly around the main square.

This area is the heart of Faneromeni and offers a truly authentic experience. The main square is a focal point, often bustling with local life, and you'll find traditional tavernas and a mini-market within easy walking distance. The village is compact, so exploring on foot is straightforward, and the architecture reflects traditional Cretan design.

Couples looking for a peaceful and authentic Greek village experience will find the village centre ideal. It's a place to slow down, enjoy local hospitality, and experience everyday life away from larger tourist resorts. You can easily spend evenings enjoying a meal at a local taverna or simply watching the world go by from a café.

For those who enjoy hiking and exploring the natural beauty of Crete, staying in the village centre provides convenient access to local trails and scenic routes.

When is the best time to go to Faneromeni?

The best time to go to Faneromeni is from late spring, specifically May, through to early autumn, until October.

These months offer consistently warm, sunny weather, superb for enjoying the outdoors without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find the sea is pleasant for swimming, and the local tavernas and shops are fully open. May and October provide a quieter experience with fewer crowds, making it ideal for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway often find May, June, September, and October particularly appealing. The weather is warm enough for beach days and exploring the countryside, but the main tourist rush hasn't fully begun or has already subsided, allowing for a more intimate experience.

For families, the peak summer months of July and August are excellent, despite being busier.
