Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe

Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe

8/10 Good
"Loved how close the resort is to Heavenly Village. Parking is to expensive when you add on the $57 daily resort fee...that is quite a large amount of money considering what you pay to begin with. We did not like the rasberry syrup poured over the keylime pie. We payed $25 for keylime pie and all we tasted was syrup. We couldn't even eat it. The service was slow in the outside restaurant facing the road. But the bed was very comfortable. Room very clean."

10/10 Excellent
"Property is great but in need of minor maintenance both in rooms and common areas. Elevator switch on 15th floor, one worked and one wouldn’t even light up. Someone needs to walk the property and make notes because customers would not go through the trouble of telling employees. Door panels at the bathrooms in room 1520 were cracked and delaminated."

Station House Inn - Near Heavenly Gondola

10/10 Excellent
"Let me start by saying the staff was great, everyone I met. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Really close to the lake and shopping strip mall and of course the casinos. Loved the water pressure and mini fridge. They had giving us a room where the carpet had huge stains. Went to the office to get another room, the front desk person, sorry forgot their names, showed me a few more, that still had stains but not as bad as the first one. I had chosen this property by the reviews, it was great but that's it."

"The location is good, the property is clean. The parking situation is a nightmare. Valet only and there was no place to park in the huge line for Valet, $30 day no other parking choices. I would rent a cabin next time if I ever come back."

Frequently asked questions

How much does a budget hotel in Fallen Leaf cost?
Budget hotel prices in Fallen Leaf vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $90 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates—typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
Which area of Fallen Leaf is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
Fallen Leaf, California, is primarily a natural area focused on its lake and surrounding wilderness, so traditional "cheap hotels" in the conventional sense are not its main offering. Instead, budget-conscious solo travellers will find that the most affordable accommodation options typically involve camping or staying in nearby towns that offer more diverse lodging. For those prioritising direct access to the natural beauty, primitive campgrounds around Fallen Leaf Lake itself or the adjacent Desolation Wilderness offer the most budget-friendly way to stay, though these require advance booking and come without hotel amenities. These sites are ideal for solo travellers who enjoy the outdoors and are prepared for a rustic experience, offering unparalleled access to hiking trails and the lake without any accommodation costs beyond a campsite fee.Alternatively, solo travellers can look to the nearby town of South Lake Tahoe, which is just a short drive away and offers a broader range of budget accommodations, including motels and guesthouses. While not directly in Fallen Leaf, staying in South Lake Tahoe provides access to more amenities like grocery stores and public transport options, and it's still convenient for day trips to Fallen Leaf Lake.
When is the most affordable time to visit Fallen Leaf?
The most affordable time to visit Fallen Leaf is typically during the shoulder seasons, specifically late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October). During these months, the peak summer crowds have dispersed or not yet arrived, leading to lower prices for accommodation and fewer people on the trails. For solo travellers, visiting in late spring offers the chance to see the landscape come alive with blooming wildflowers and enjoy milder weather for hiking and exploring without the intense heat of summer. You'll find more availability for budget-friendly cabins and campsites, and activities like kayaking on Fallen Leaf Lake are often cheaper to rent.Early autumn is another excellent choice for those looking to save money. The changing leaves create a stunning backdrop, and the weather remains pleasant for outdoor pursuits. It's a quieter time to experience the natural beauty, and you might find deals on lodging as the peak season winds down.
What free activities should we do in Fallen Leaf?
In Fallen Leaf, solo travellers will find plenty of free activities focused on enjoying the stunning natural beauty of the region. The primary draw is the pristine Fallen Leaf Lake itself, offering numerous opportunities for cost-free enjoyment. You can spend hours simply walking along the lake's shores, taking in the crystal-clear waters and the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains. There are several access points around the lake, superb for a leisurely stroll or finding a quiet spot to read and relax. For those who enjoy a bit more activity, hiking is a fantastic free option. Numerous trails wind through the surrounding forests, ranging from easy paths suitable for a gentle walk to more challenging routes that lead to breathtaking viewpoints. A popular choice is the trail to Glen Alpine Falls, a picturesque waterfall that's particularly impressive during the spring and early summer when the snowmelt is at its peak.Additionally, exploring the unpaved roads around the lake on foot offers a chance to discover secluded spots and enjoy the tranquility of the area without spending a penny.
Is it cheaper to book flights and a hotel in Fallen Leaf as a package?
Booking a hotel and flight package on Expedia can be cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately. Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it's wise to compare options. With access to over 300,000 hotels worldwide, Expedia makes it easy to build the perfect travel package.
Can I cancel my budget hotel reservation on Expedia?
Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline. This is often within 24-48 hours of your scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use Expedia's "Fully refundable property" filter during your search to find the right budget hotel in Fallen Leaf for you.
