There is a large deck around the house and a lower deck located right by the Smith River. After a day of swimming, fishing, kayaking, rowing, biking, hiking or exploring, you can return to the house to relax for a BBQ, roast marshmallows or just enjoy the river view only 30 feet from the deck. The large living room and fully equipped kitchen have large windows to enable you to cook indoors or outdoors while taking in the beautiful view including the flowing river. With 1 bedroom and a full bath downstairs, it is easy to get a restful night sleep. The two additional bedrooms and a full bath located upstairs provide an abundance of sleeping space for everyone and a great view of the redwoods that surround the property. Its best features are the surrounding redwood trees, close proximity to the river and its very own waterfall. By the way, if River's Bend is booked for your desired time we have just opened up two more vacation rentals in Crescent City by the lighthouse. Check us out! Lighthouse Point is VRBO #2897216\. This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house that sleeps 8 in beds. Cottage by the Sea is VRBO #2923254\. This is a very cozy studio with a full bathroom and kitchen. This was our 3rd or 4th time here and it's still our favorite rental house ever. Fully stocked with every possible thing you might need. The hosts are great and very helpful and the location is unique in that is has the best access of any rental house on the Smith River. Even my barely mobile 84 year-old mother-in-law could get down to the beach to watch us kayak and swim. My only tiny complaint is that the knives in the kitchen were almost too dull to use, so bring your own if you plan on cooking a big meal. The kitchen is great for cooking for a large group because it's open and you can chat while cooking. Wish I lived here! ##### Joy K. This home—it truly felt like a home—had the best river access of any property we’ve stayed at previously. We had the chance to see otters from the river view deck, we all enjoyed swimming in the river, and the kids enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit when the river was a bit too chilly. The beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked with cookware, and the location was perfect for us as we made numerous trips to Oregon, Hiouchi, Jed Smith State Park, and Klamath. We had one small issue with a faulty fire alarm, but Dave was easy to contact and quick to reply. We loved our stay, thank you to the Powells for allowing us to stay in your lovely home for a memorable family vacation. We would definitely stay again. ##### Bianca D. Large kitchen, family room, and dining area. We've rented several vacation homes and this was the most well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, bedding, games, toiletries, etc. Our family enjoyed the outside space when it didn't rain. We used the hot tub once, enjoyed the river access and views, and the BBQ. This was a great location on a quiet street and wasn't too far from town when we needed to get gas and groceries. It was also near Kellogg beach which was nice. The only hiccup we had was a slight delay in the key code being activated for our entrance to the home. I texted the owner but ended up just calling him after waiting a little bit for a response. I will also add that the home was tidy but could use a good deep clean. There were noticeable cobwebs which might be hard for someone with allergies. It was a lovely place to stay and would be great to experience in the summertime with that beautiful river. Truly beautiful. The house is another story! There is a very strong and predominant mold/mildew smell and it was dirty. The odor was worst in the down stairs bathroom, master bedroom and laundry room. So bad infact we all showered up stairs and couldn't sleep in the master bedroom. I contacted the owner and he just said sorry. We left this house cleaner than when we arrived and had to buy supplies to help us make it through our stay. Everyones allergies were crazy. It was extremely disappointing! Cobwebs all over, dust mites crawling in the master bedroom windowsill. I took several pictures and videos. The mold/mildew smell is my biggest issue and my family was miserable. It was making us sick. master bedroom. I hehe juat hehe jusasorry ##### Trina A. HANDS DOWN the best Air B&B we've stayed in!!!! The home is older and has a quirky layout, which worked well for our family. We used the kayaks and paddle boards and we're in the river until the sun went down, then we hit the hot tub. If you're a water family you'll love it there!!!
