Town: The market town of Ennistymon is situated by a beautiful river, on the edge of The Burren in County Clare. The town is renowned for the cascades, which pass over the river, and a walk to the top of Church Hill to view the breathtaking surrounding scenery is essential. Craft shops with traditional fronts, fine restaurants, pubs with Irish music, plus a food and craft fair held on Saturdays, mean that there is something for everyone in this delightful town. Close to Ennistymon is O'Brien Castle, which dates back to 1588, and the beautiful seaside resort of Lahinch is just two miles away, with a golden Blue Flag sandy beach that is ideal for building sandcastles and swimming. Lahinch is famous for surfing, sea kayaking and outdoor sports, and also has a world-renowned golf course and a large play park for children. The stunning Cliffs of Moher, nominated as one of the seven wonders of the world, are also close by. You can follow the Wild Atlantic Way along the cliffs and see the Aran Islands in the distance, catch a ferry there from Doolin, or enjoy a walk along The Burren Way.
