Top Donje Sitno Hotel Reviews

Boutique Hotel Luxe

10/10 Excellent

"The room was clean and the breakfast was impeccable. The location was great being close to the ferry port. The one obstacle was a long walk uphill from the bus terminal to the hotel. It was great coming down hill to catch the ferry to Split."

Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Split

8/10 Good

"Very nice accommodation and nice breakfast. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We went from the 10th October and had nice weather and swam in the sea. However the beach bar and outdoor pool had closed, shortly after arrival. So for some late sun, I would recommend late September, first weel of October to get the full use of facilities."

Amphora Hotel

8/10 Good

"We stayed at the Amphora in October break which meant the hotel was relatively quiet, it appeared as if they’d reduced the staff. The main restaurant disappointingly was closed, we were served in the breakfast room by a single waiter who was unable to cope with demand - food there was not great. Location is fine as long as your either up for a long but pleasant walk or happy to take a taxi, beware some of the local taxis are fierce at overcharging €95 for 2 miles from port to hotel - after that one I used Uber for everything which was good. The promenade and beach were excellent. Spa facilities were good easy to access with capacity in October, would be interesting in August. Room was nice and clean with amazing view of Adriatic Sea from balcony. Overall I would recommend staying in the hotel and eating out, Split city was very interesting with nice cafes and restaurants"

Divota Apartment Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Loved this property. We were lucky enough to be upgraded and had a balcony which was lovely to sit and play cards with a drink. There was also a washing machine and a couple of all in one tabs which was helpful. Very central but also easy to park close by. As this was an apartment, we could have cooked, everything was provided, as well as a coffee machine. Couldn’t fault it at all. Breakfast was up the road in a small cafe, also nice"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Donje Sitno?

The best area to stay in Donje Sitno is within the village centre itself, particularly for those seeking a tranquil escape with easy access to nature.

This small, peaceful village is located in the hills just inland from Split, offering a quiet retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. The centre is characterised by traditional stone houses, narrow lanes, and olive groves, providing a truly authentic rural Croatian experience. It's a place where you can enjoy the natural beauty of the Dalmatian hinterland.

Couples looking for a romantic and private getaway will find Donje Sitno ideal. Hotels and guesthouses here often feature private terraces with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, superb for enjoying quiet evenings. The area is also well-suited for leisurely walks and exploring the local flora.

For those interested in outdoor activities, staying in Donje Sitno puts you right at the doorstep of the Mosor mountain range.

When is the best time to go to Donje Sitno?

The best time to go to Donje Sitno is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from May to June and September to October, to enjoy pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius, which is ideal for exploring the surrounding nature and enjoying outdoor activities. You'll find the popular hiking trails in the Mosor mountain range more enjoyable without the intense summer heat, and the local villages are bustling but not overly crowded. This period also offers good value on accommodation and activities compared to the peak summer months.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find these months particularly appealing. You can enjoy quiet evenings at local konobas (traditional taverns) or take scenic drives through the olive groves and vineyards without feeling rushed. The sea is also warm enough for swimming towards the end of May and throughout September.

For families, late May and early June, or September, are excellent. The sea temperatures are pleasant for swimming, and the local attractions, including the nearby beaches and the historic city of Split, are less congested.
