I don’t know how this properly could pass an inspection. There were few amenities. It's an old building and has had some trouble from Mother nature lately but it has a charm to it. It has some quirky plumbing tricks but once you have the hot water dialed in the shower feels great after several days of desert camping. It's quiet at night and the bed was comfortable. However, nothing was said when I made my reservation that I would have to let the water trickle for 15 minutes in order to have hot water in the shower... As far as having hot water in the bathroom sink, that never happened... The heater was not working properly and I had to request a space heater. The room was very clean, however. What was surprising in this hotel and in the room was the number of "don't do" signs and penalties you would incur if you didn't comply. I understand that this kind of signs are necessary, but there were so many of those that I was almost afraid to sleep in the bed! Inside the motel in the hallway, there was a bucket collecting water from the leaking pipes on the ceiling... The exterior of the hotel was very dusty. If they want us to run the shower for 15 minutes, then they sure do have enough water to spray with a hose the immediate outside grounds! Unfortunately the building is in very bad conditions, it gets flooded during heavy rains and it badly needs some basic maintenance works. We still liked our stay because of a kind welcome, very nice people at the reception and the unique history of the place (we took a guided tour to visit the theater). The twe queen room was spacious enough for a couple with two kids. Besides, the position is very close to the Death Valley park. When planning your visit you need to be aware of this. The building is over 100 years old, and subject to the extreme desert conditions. We found it charming. The room and bathroom was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were great. The only downside was that we arrived after a flooding and in the common area was a musty smell, but not in the room. The employees were very friendly and very informative!
