There are no stores, gas stations or restaurants in the immediate area. The hotel is a fascinating location and the story of Marta Becket is inspiring for artists. I have to grade the property on a curve: as an historic property it’s amazing. It is not, however, a modern hotel, so don’t expect much in the way of amenities. The building and the plumbing are over 100 years old, there are no phones or televisions in the rooms, and cell phone reception is nonexistent. The hotel does have WiFi, so you won’t be totally disconnected. I ultimately really enjoyed my stay, but it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into. Wifi worked but slow at times. To be fair its the cheapest place to stay so on that basis I would return. Rooms were clean and well-maintained. The hotel itself is charming and the staff was very kind. Take the tour if you can and learn more about Marta Beckett and the history of the hotel! The surrounding desert was nice to walk in as the sun rose.
