The Pictures Don't Do It Justice.
We had a lovely weekend stay at this country pub with rooms. The owners are lovely and very friendly and welcoming. Its a dog friendly place, so for us, that was perfect. Our room (room 2) was on the ground floor and had a door leading out to the garden, great if you have a dog. The room was a good size and very comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities, tv and a hairdryer. The king sized bed was good and the bathroom was lovely. We ate dinner and breakfast here both days and the food was great, and the potions were huge. We're looking forward to a return trip.

Hidden Gem
This pub/Hotel was fantastic, Nicola the host could not do enough to make you feel more welcome and at home, the foods amazing! the room was so clean and comfortable and had everything you could need. The breakfast was also amazing. If we do go to this area again i would not hesitate at returning, and also would encourage anyone who is staying in the area to try get booked in there, or even book a meal or Sunday Roast.

Great stay again
We stayed at the old posting house for our annual visit to Keswick where we spread the father in law's ashes. Yet again another great visit . All the staff were really nice,polite and helpful ,without being over bearing . The rooms were,modern ,clean and spacious . The food at night was great . We eat in the bar as our two dogs were with us,and they're allowed in the bar. Really goid quality food,well cooked,full of flavour ,decent portions and a good price . Breakfast was exactly the same too. Will definitely be back again and staying here next year .

Lovely room with fantastic shower, large HDTV, good wifi, and firm comfy beds. Great breakfast and good evening meals at reasonable prices with amstel on tap and good local ales.Happy to accomodate my sons bike too!

Nicola & Terry were friendly, accommodating & very welcoming. They were very obliging with packed lunches including hot milk in our flasks of coffee for our Wainwright-bagging & when we needed a packed breakfast due to an early start.

Lovely comfortable pub with amazing food
Myself, my partner and my grandparents stayed here for a short trip in the lakes. It was a great base. The rooms were lovely, bed was comfy, very clean. The pub itself was great also, the food is brilliant. I would definitely recommend

A wonderful place to stay
From the warm & friendly welcome to the genuine goodbye our stay was wonderful. Beautiful, clean & spacious, the rooms could not have been any better. The en-suite bathroom was spotless & a really generous size. The food was delicious, beautifully presented & plentiful, well worth staying in for. The Old Posting House is ideally situated as a base to explore further areas, Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Maryport & Lake Buttermere are all worth a visit with other ideas easily found on the internet. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners & staff, they are all warm & friendly. We visited The Old Posting House with friends who loved it there as much as we did & we will all definitely be visiting again.

Spotlessly clean very comfortable good sized room with en- suite. Hosts were lovely and nothing too much trouble for them. Cooked breakfast each morning with tea, toast, juice etc.

We stayed here for one night to attend a wedding at a nearby venue. Staff were very accommodating and friendly and let us check in early to get ready for the event in our room. Room was immaculately clean, bathroom had a good sized shower, bed was comfortable (there is also a good plug in hairdryer in the room ). Breakfast next day was very nice with good quality coffee . Would recommend this establishment for a stay.

Nice hotel. Extremely welcoming.
We stayed here over the Bank holiday and were really pleased with our choice. We were made to feel very welcome. The hotel is small and dog friendly. Clean and tidy and the food in the pub was excellent. The breakfast was freshly cooked for you each day and you can take your dog with you into the bar area at mealtimes if you wish. The room we had looked newly refurbished (room 2) and was quite spacious and very comfortable. We will definitely go back. It was exactly what we were looking for and very good value for money.

We had great difficulty contacting the hotel the day before & on arrival, no-one in attendance or answering the phone. I spoke to aWotif rep. both days and to be fair they were unable to help me much either, although I did find it very difficult to converse with either of them due to the language barrier. The Hotel owner finally arrived & everything went very well from then on, room and both dinner & breakfast were excellent!

Friendly, helpful staff. Great Food.
The staff greeted us on arrival; tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room. The food was so good we ate there every night! Bathroom facilities were excellent with a great shower. Our dogs were allowed in the bar area while we ate. The staff were very considerate of our dogs needs and provided us with a room with french doors so they could easily be let out. The hotel was easy to find and access, with plentiful parking; on a main road but with so little traffic, no noise was heard. Great central location to access Allonby Beach and the lakes. Cockermouth Town Centre is only a short distance away. Would definitely stay here again. We enjoyed our trip to the Lakes and the hotel made it even better - thank you.
