Enjoyed our 5 day stay. Clean property with easy access to get around to shopping and diving. Only one restaurant was open while we were there but they food options were great. We did the elite option as it had the all inclusive food/drink option. Plenty of food & drink choices that came with it. Smaller place with most options available of a larger place. Only downfall is that the cruise ships sit to the left side of the property every day except Sunday. There we're a few cruisers that paid for the day pass but it didn't make it overcrowded.

If you like looking at multiple cruise ships daily then this place is for you. The facility caters to the people on the cruise ships. A majority of the stores and restaurants around the resort are only open when cruise ships are there but a soon as the cruise ships leave then they close. Employees were friendly. Disappointed that there is only one restaurant in the resort. The food was just okay however, a majority of the items from the buffet were not very hot. It would have been nice to receive a handout when arriving that explains pool area, picking up swimming towels and reserving lounges, when they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, if they have special activities within the resort, information about the resort (gym, WiFi, computer access, etc).

Our room was okay, we found a bunch of stains in the bed (we just prayed it was clean) and the sheets were written on with pen, and our tub wouldn’t fill up. So we couldn’t take a bath like we were looking forward to. When we went to the dive shop on Saturday, we waited 20 minutes for help at around 11:30am. We went to the front to get help and she called and while we were walking out again, we saw him coming from a door inside the hotel and go sit down in his chair outside. He insisted on arguing with us saying he was there the whole time, instead of just helping us. Then he treated us poorly because he got in trouble since he wasn’t doing his job. The food was okay, but at dinner they wouldn’t serve us. They told us everytime it was buffet only but plenty of other families and couples were ordering through the kitchen. So that was a little disappointing because there isn’t very much options for the buffet. And at dinner time, getting any service is highly impossible. No one would seat us or help us out for drinks, I had to go up to the bar to get my drinks half the time. There really isn’t two restaurants, and the “pizza restaurant” is falsely advertised. When I ordered pizza it tasted and looked like frozen pizza, it definitely was not brick oven cooked. And I saw so many people smoking outside on the beach area, it’s disgusting because I had to sign a waiver for a “no smoking hotel” and I saw several people smoking and leaving cigarettes everywhere.

Based on the pictures I saw online and having stayed at El Cid in Puerto Morelos I was very disappointed. The service was not the best and the food was really terrible. The room was nice and the balcony view was too, but not much else was great about it.

As a budget getaway for some sun/swimming/partying, it’s fine. The food is fine if you’re into that (a little oily/repetitive for my taste, but I’m not a foodie, what do I know?), the staff is very friendly (service can be a little slow and inconsistent; one night a staffer escorts you to your table, places your napkin on your lap, all very formal—the next you might have to grab a menu from the hostess stand yourself, find a seat, and wait a while for anybody to take your order. If you enjoy noise/activity, this is for you; next to the international port (and a LOUD Señor Frogs), with live performances in the dining area most nights. They do have some nice lounge areas, but they sell day passes to people coming off the ships, so daytime is busy, almost like a public pool. People seemed to enjoy themselves, it’s just not my scene. The grounds are fine; the fake rock walls around the "beach" are crumbling and dated, the sauna doesn’t work, but if you stand right over the heating element, you can still break a sweat—from that position, you’ll be making inadvertent eye contact through the window with everyone exiting the women’s bathroom. The gym was better than I expected, and nobody used it, so access was easy. Rooms/halls feel old/tired. Near a bougie shopping center if you like that. I prefer a quiet escape; I want to listen to the waves, swim, nap in the breeze, and read. This isn’t the place for that. Overall, it’s fine. Not my scene, but you might love it.

Property and staff were very good. Food was great compared to previous experiences on the island. Only thing we didn’t care for was the 15$ per person per day resort fee at an all inclusive property. This additional fee was not included in the “all inclusive” price.

The staff were so inviting and friendly. They were eager to provide great customer service and were always happy to help. The snorkeling at the hotel was very convenient and nice for both adults and kids. The daily cruise ships were not a pleasant sight but the atmosphere at El CID made up for it.

Would not go back to this resort! Only had one restaurant, one bar for ( All- inclusive), everything closes at 10:30pm. Food was not good at all, one night of good food was the Mexican night for dinner. Breakfast was a buffet but not many options, no protein, no potatoes, had to ask and with hesitation they would get you some. Resort DOES NOT have a beach front or any access to the water unless you are snorkeling, not very big or many activites to do at the resort. We spent most of our time on the streets walking around because there was nothing to do . Pool was very cold, a long with the spa, which maybe hit 80 degrees max. Nothing like hanging out in a bath water warm spa. Overall would not recommend this resort if you have kids or on a couples vacation. Staff was pleasant beside the front desk, when we had an excursion we were 2.2miles away from our resort and no taxi to be found. Called our resort and they first hung up on me and the second call they said " no, we are not sending a taxi for you". So we had to walk the main road. Lucky I had seen a taxi and MADE his stop to pick us up.

We’ve been to Cozumel 3 times and stayed somewhere different each time. El Cid was our favorite so far. Food was great minus one menu (which really was just harder that one night to find stuff for our picky kids-all other meals were total winners all around and we have a very picky 8 year old!). Felt incredibly safe and loved walking to nearby stores, carts and a shopping plaza. People were always willing to help out but weren’t overly in your face or constantly there asking what you needed-which I appreciated after a day at Chankanaab where we couldn’t go more than 3 minutes without being interrupted (super friendly, and I get why, but I appreciated the privacy at El Cid while also having people on staff more than willing to jump in and help provide what was needed-my kiddo even felt comfortable going up to the bar and ordering himself lunch!). We actually enjoyed watching the cruise ships come and go, the kids especially, but we did wonder how much choppier the water may have been by being so close to the docks and boat traffic? Wondered if snorkeling could have been smoother further from the boats, but what snorkeling we did out front was great even if it was bumpy at times-lots of sea life right out front!

Staff were amazing ‘Victor, Cristian, the young lady always smiling greeting at the restaurant and the older Gentleman at the pool were exceptional!! Unfortunately when we checked in (we opted to upgrade our stay to Elite) we weren’t given a run down of amenities or where anything was located which was disappointing considering we found out on our last day we had a butler which is when he introduced himself to us. Was told we would have champagne in our room upon our arrival and that did not happen disappointing as this was for our Anniversary and I requested this. Property was dated, needs power washing on the exterior would make it more appealing especially for ‘vacation’ photos. WIFI is not included you have to pay for it $30 for 3GB. Fridge was not stocked need to request this from your butler. FYI expect cruise ships for your ocean front view, accept on Sundays no ships and everything around is folded up.

Snorkeling off the beach was fantastic! The food was great! So convenient having the SCUBA dive boat pick us up at the dock. We will return for another vacation week.

The staff was very friendly and you could snorkel in the area around the hotel and see all kinds of fish, we even seen a stingray.

Staff is super friendly and helpful . Does not quite have a beach it’s more for scuba diving . It also only has one restaurant which is great and food is well prepared but no other locations . This resort is more for relaxing and not for young adults .

We went to Mexico 22 times. And this is the most terrible vacation. The food is disgusting. My 10 year old daughter was on fries for all 6 days. For breakfast I could only eat fruit and only when it was normal. We always enjoy our vacation, but not this time, my whole family was waiting for the vacation to end. It is written that there are 2 restaurants, there is no restaurant at all, there is a buffet.

Mexico in general is a very "tip" culture country for foreigners. The resort is the last place I want to be harassed for not tipping their employees. Sadly EVERY time I ate they would slide in my "check" even though its an all inclusive resort, and the bill would be 0 dollars but they would highlight TIP and circle it. Leakage was in alot of the facility including the hallway, gym, and restaurant bathroom. You also have to pay for wifi PER DEVICE PER DAY. Don't forget about the tax bill too. I left a week early and ended up just booking a place in Florida because honestly screw this place. The reviews for 2 star or 1 star is very true, don't book here because its cheaper than other places. Just pay the extra bit and save yourselves from here.
