The location is great as it's next to the cruise terminal so a lot of shopping and eating nearby if you chose to leave the property. The food is great at the property so I never ate outside the resort. The one improvement would be the bar service around the pool. There is only 1 bar and not enough server walking around getting drink orders. The swim up bar is attached to the hot tub not the pool. If you are in the pool and and want another drink, most times I had to get out of the pool and go up to the bar.

Beautiful location right by the beach and cruise ships. They have two sides, one side has all the beds by the Dive/Snorkeling shop which with the all inclusive you can use their snorkeling equipment for free for an hour. The other side has a few beds to lay out and has a beach pool where hammocks are hanging over. The water is a gorgeous turquoise color and clear! Definitely recommend snorkeling, there is a ship and anchor at the bottom! Food was decent, if you don’t like the options at their buffet you can always ask for either a lunch or dinner menu, one is an all inclusive menu and the other is a menu to pay (lobster, shrimp, etc.) Hotel workers kept the grounds and rooms clean daily, service was exceptional too. Cozumel is a safe place overall, make sure to venture out of your hotel and try local restaurants or rent a scooter to drive around the whole island. Also just a heads up, the locals here will try to sale you something at every corner, it is there livelihoods after all but you can always bargain with them too when renting or buying their crafts.

Went for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. The Hotel decked out the room with rose pedals bottle of wine and a beautiful art work made out of towels. We had a marvelous time and location is perfect. No complaints definitely returning!

Wonderful attentive staff! I had a room issue that was taken care of in a very timely manner. Beautiful views! Food on menu was excellent. Buffet food was not my favorite, but loved all the fresh fruits! Felt very safe there traveling with a group of four ladies. No free Wi-Fi and some extra fees for premium drinks (which I did not have.)

I enjoyed the property and would stay here again. Some things that I noticed 1. Not enough shaded areas by the pool; small pool area but there are shaded areas at the “beach” 2. Lunch options weren’t clear. Was told to eat at the buffet by pool; ordering off the menu in the restaurant was not offered but available. 3. No service or orders were taken by the pool (only if you’re in the hot tub, which had the swim up bar). 4. Small elevator (max 4 persons). For all inclusive, everything stops at checkout time (12pm) All orders after is paid a la cart.

My children and I just returned from a week at El Cid La Ceiba and we had an amazing time! It’s a small resort and wasn’t crowded at all, making it much more relaxing. No waiting for beach chairs or meals, and the drinks were amazing. Best mojitos ever! The lunch menu and pool menu are actually the best food they have IMO. Snorkeling from this resort is unmatched on the island! We went on two snorkeling tours and they were nothing compared to the snorkeling from this resort. We saw 40 different kinds of fish, plus a turtle, sting rays, and a lobster. It was the best snorkeling of my life. There is an also a dock that you can have fun jumping off of. Roger, the activities director, kept us entertained all day long with fun games and water sports/snorkeling tours. His energy and enthusiasm made the trip! He went out of his way to make sure the kids and I were having fun. We have a “garden view” room, which still had an ocean view. It looks like every room has an ocean view so you are good no matter where you stay.

This was our first time at a smaller all inclusive resort. We were blown away. The property was clean and very quaint. We absolutely loved it. It was very relaxing! We traveled with our two children, 8 and 11 years old and we felt very safe and the staff was excellent. One restaurant? No problem! The food was fabulous and always something new! The menu items were amazing and this was a nice addition to the all inclusive plan. Soledad was an excellent chef! The snorkeling was the best around- we went on two snorkeling adventures off site and nothing compared to the snorkeling at the resort. We were very happy with the resorts clean, friendly, safe, accommodating, beautiful- Roger the activities director was also amazing and kept things fun and entertaining. Cruise ships: didn’t bother us one bit. As a matter of fact it was kind of neat looking a the the ships. Way too much beauty to focus on the ships. All in all, I would go back to El Cid!

Stayed at El Cid for five days with my family. It's not very family friendly and it's more expensive than other places. The resort only has one pool and it's very congested and dirty. Lack of food variety. The buffet was bleak. Room service was okay. The activities guy (Roger) was great. He does a snorkel tour on the beach which was great. Other then that, it was below average. Go somewhere else.

We had all inclusive, except we were not allowed to order from the menu, and only one restaurant was open the whole time during our stay. So we only had the buffet for food. The good: Clean and great staff! You do have ocean front to the Caribbean ocean. The bad: The ocean front has a view of cruise ships and only a tiny beach access. There is a wall that blocks ocean access. Aldo the facility was older and internet was not included.

Enjoyed our 5 day stay. Clean property with easy access to get around to shopping and diving. Only one restaurant was open while we were there but they food options were great. We did the elite option as it had the all inclusive food/drink option. Plenty of food & drink choices that came with it. Smaller place with most options available of a larger place. Only downfall is that the cruise ships sit to the left side of the property every day except Sunday. There we're a few cruisers that paid for the day pass but it didn't make it overcrowded.

If you like looking at multiple cruise ships daily then this place is for you. The facility caters to the people on the cruise ships. A majority of the stores and restaurants around the resort are only open when cruise ships are there but a soon as the cruise ships leave then they close. Employees were friendly. Disappointed that there is only one restaurant in the resort. The food was just okay however, a majority of the items from the buffet were not very hot. It would have been nice to receive a handout when arriving that explains pool area, picking up swimming towels and reserving lounges, when they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, if they have special activities within the resort, information about the resort (gym, WiFi, computer access, etc).

We were with a group of friends and stayed for a week. What we did like was: 1. The food and service in the restaurant. German and Victor were both awesome. So were the other people. There is only one restaurant, not two. And it is totally open, so the one day the winds were bad they had to close up and move everyone to a conference room. They did a great job in a hurry though. 2. The location is nice if you want to be close to touristy things. Also, there is a dive shop on site. With the all inclusive package you get an hour of snorkeling daily. I took the scuba class right at the hotel. I was surprised how much I could see being so close to the cruise ships and the hotel. The water is clear and beautiful. 3. It isn't far to walk to most things you may need. The ferry was only about a mile away. The hotel was clean. What we didn't care for: 1. The rooms seem out dated. I wouldn't take a bath in that tub. It seemed like it was clean but just really old. 2. The lamps were broken. 3. The cruise port was right next door which some people may love but the ships blocked a lot of the ocean views. And we could hear the bar next door from our room. 4. We repeatedly had to ask for toilet paper. That was a first for me. They treated it like it was gold. 5. There really isn't much of a beach so if you want to hang out at a beach with easy access this isn't the place for you. 6. The elevators are small and don't seem adequate for the traffic if the hotel is busy.

El Cid was just ok overall, food was good but limited, the wait staff in the only restaurant was excellent and German and Victor were outstanding. Housekeeping was spotty, had to ask to have toilet paper put in the room more than once, same for towels and it was like asking for a cash handout. This is the only all inclusive we've stayed at that didn't have a refrigerator in a room, much less for any hotel. The $600 in credits they offer was a joke, wasn't able to use a single one of the coupons.

Our room was okay, we found a bunch of stains in the bed (we just prayed it was clean) and the sheets were written on with pen, and our tub wouldn’t fill up. So we couldn’t take a bath like we were looking forward to. When we went to the dive shop on Saturday, we waited 20 minutes for help at around 11:30am. We went to the front to get help and she called and while we were walking out again, we saw him coming from a door inside the hotel and go sit down in his chair outside. He insisted on arguing with us saying he was there the whole time, instead of just helping us. Then he treated us poorly because he got in trouble since he wasn’t doing his job. The food was okay, but at dinner they wouldn’t serve us. They told us everytime it was buffet only but plenty of other families and couples were ordering through the kitchen. So that was a little disappointing because there isn’t very much options for the buffet. And at dinner time, getting any service is highly impossible. No one would seat us or help us out for drinks, I had to go up to the bar to get my drinks half the time. There really isn’t two restaurants, and the “pizza restaurant” is falsely advertised. When I ordered pizza it tasted and looked like frozen pizza, it definitely was not brick oven cooked. And I saw so many people smoking outside on the beach area, it’s disgusting because I had to sign a waiver for a “no smoking hotel” and I saw several people smoking and leaving cigarettes everywhere.

We did all inclusive and mostly everything was great except for the dinner buffets. First night I asked if we could look at a menu was told no we could only do Buffet with all-inclusive so I talked to the Head waiter and was told Monday Wednesday Friday were menu days. Monday comes around and we turn the corner and it's Buffet. So I told our waiter about what I was told and he brought me a menu which was an all-inclusive menu. We were okay with paying an upcharge for anything off of a regular menu which eventually they let us look at the menu. We stayed 11 nights. This was not our first time at this Resort pre-covid everything was great this was our first time post covid I do not believe we will be back to this hotel it was a let down. The room I booked was not the room that they were going to give me was told the room that I thought I booked was for timeshare people. They offered us to pay for an upgrade which we took but very disappointing to see that the part of the hotel we thought we were reserving a room in only have maybe five rooms used. The internet was an extra $150 for the 11 days that we were there we chose not to use it our cell phones worked just fine. I was very excited to go back to this hotel post covid because it was our favorite place to go but after this trip I was very disappointed. This hotel is a smoke-free hotel now which is wonderful, but they should really work on changing out their old curtains that reek of smoke. The staff was wonderful!

Based on the pictures I saw online and having stayed at El Cid in Puerto Morelos I was very disappointed. The service was not the best and the food was really terrible. The room was nice and the balcony view was too, but not much else was great about it.

As a budget getaway for some sun/swimming/partying, it’s fine. The food is fine if you’re into that (a little oily/repetitive for my taste, but I’m not a foodie, what do I know?), the staff is very friendly (service can be a little slow and inconsistent; one night a staffer escorts you to your table, places your napkin on your lap, all very formal—the next you might have to grab a menu from the hostess stand yourself, find a seat, and wait a while for anybody to take your order. If you enjoy noise/activity, this is for you; next to the international port (and a LOUD Señor Frogs), with live performances in the dining area most nights. They do have some nice lounge areas, but they sell day passes to people coming off the ships, so daytime is busy, almost like a public pool. People seemed to enjoy themselves, it’s just not my scene. The grounds are fine; the fake rock walls around the "beach" are crumbling and dated, the sauna doesn’t work, but if you stand right over the heating element, you can still break a sweat—from that position, you’ll be making inadvertent eye contact through the window with everyone exiting the women’s bathroom. The gym was better than I expected, and nobody used it, so access was easy. Rooms/halls feel old/tired. Near a bougie shopping center if you like that. I prefer a quiet escape; I want to listen to the waves, swim, nap in the breeze, and read. This isn’t the place for that. Overall, it’s fine. Not my scene, but you might love it.

El Cid La Cieba was ok. According to Orbitz, our "deluxe rooms included a queen bed and a double pull-out sofa. Not the case. The "deluxe" rooms are caves - dark, small, and uncomfortable. There was 1 murphy style bed that took up the entire room. My husband and I ended up upgrading to a larger room, which was much needed. Every single chance that El Cid had to charge us extra, they did. It was so frustrating. The service was not great. It was exceedingly obvious that priority was given to their members. We waited long periods of time for our food in the restaurant. There was only 1 one restaurant - not the 2 that were advertised. The food was ok - we loved the desserts. The massages at the spa were fantastic - we miss her! The towels did have a very strong chemical smell to them. Not sure what that was. The cruise ships were neat to watch but annoying at times as they were loud. The cruise ship passengers do dominate the beach area, but it is fine as long as you get a spot early in the day. I felt like I had to check every single transaction and event here, because I felt like we were always getting screwed out of money. We won't be back. DONT DO IT

Property and staff were very good. Food was great compared to previous experiences on the island. Only thing we didn’t care for was the 15$ per person per day resort fee at an all inclusive property. This additional fee was not included in the “all inclusive” price.

The staff were so inviting and friendly. They were eager to provide great customer service and were always happy to help. The snorkeling at the hotel was very convenient and nice for both adults and kids. The daily cruise ships were not a pleasant sight but the atmosphere at El CID made up for it.

Would not go back to this resort! Only had one restaurant, one bar for ( All- inclusive), everything closes at 10:30pm. Food was not good at all, one night of good food was the Mexican night for dinner. Breakfast was a buffet but not many options, no protein, no potatoes, had to ask and with hesitation they would get you some. Resort DOES NOT have a beach front or any access to the water unless you are snorkeling, not very big or many activites to do at the resort. We spent most of our time on the streets walking around because there was nothing to do . Pool was very cold, a long with the spa, which maybe hit 80 degrees max. Nothing like hanging out in a bath water warm spa. Overall would not recommend this resort if you have kids or on a couples vacation. Staff was pleasant beside the front desk, when we had an excursion we were 2.2miles away from our resort and no taxi to be found. Called our resort and they first hung up on me and the second call they said " no, we are not sending a taxi for you". So we had to walk the main road. Lucky I had seen a taxi and MADE his stop to pick us up.
