Sleepy Oaks Cottage on Potts Creek, (Stay 6 nights 7th Free)

Sleepy Oaks Cottage is the perfect place for a couple or small family to get away from all the distractions of modern living and enjoy the simple peace and harmony of country life at its best. The small house has been completely refurbished and is now open as a special vacation rental. Best of all it is situated on beautiful Potts Creek, one of Virginia’s premier trout streams. Hikers will appreciate out your door access to hiking trails on the 300 acre property as well as proximity to thousands of acres of George Washington and Jefferson National Forest where all sorts of wildlife abounds.
A fire pit on the patio is a great place to relax on cool summer evenings and the horse shoe pits offer endless friendly competition and camaraderie.

Built in the late 1980s, the cottage offers one bedroom, a small kitchen and dining area and a living room with a pullout couch that sleeps two comfortably. An upstairs loft has been converted to a reading nook and game room complete with a great selection of books. Along with the fire pit, the patio has a table with four chairs for outdoor dining or just looking into the surrounding fields and mountains full of game and a great variety of birds.

For those who just can’t cut the cord to civilization, the cottage offers cable TV, a land based phone and Wi-Fi.

Camping provisions are just 10 minutes away at general stores in Paint Bank to the South or Boiling Springs to the North towards Covington. When you have had enough hot dogs and beans, Paint Bank offers world class country eating at the Swinging Bridge Restaurant. They even serve up a variety of Buffalo dishes from the herd kept on the 3,000 acre property.

If your idea of well spent time includes reasonable rates, friendly helpful hosts, a beautiful environment in the company of family and friends and a bold natural setting with the backdrop of a strong flowing creek, you will find it here in Southern Alleghany County a stone throw from the West Virginia line.

Returning soon!
I will return again soon! My two teenage grandchildren were with me and they loved it there! There are an abundance of activities folks can participate in that are within short distances. When I would try to make plans to take the kids to an event or attraction (even a county fair Libby told me about), they chose to stay at the cottage and play one of the many games there. We spent quality family time together. We loved the peace and quiet, the creek, the deer and rabbits we saw almost every day and "unplugging" from the "busy, busy" we've all grown used to. Libby & Steve were incredible hosts keeping us stocked with supplies and even more so in making us feel at home! If you are looking for a peaceful getaway to relax, rewind and renew or a place to experience some new adventures, Sleep Oaks Cottage is the place to go!

Overall good
The cottage itself and the property was wonderful. The biggest complaint from me is that there are next door neighbors directly behind the cottage. Which is completely fine if it was shown/mentioned in the advertisement. Which it was not. I was under the impression that the cottage was going to be completely isolated on a 300 acre property. But that was not the case. Having a neighbor that close kind of took away the isolated mountain side feeling. Other than that everything was great. The cottage was very clean, had complimentary snacks, and almost all the camping supplies we could need. Overall it was a positive experience I just wish I would have known about the neighbors.

Great place, great experience!
This was the best 5 days and wish it could have been longer! The cottage was very clean and very well stocked. The only thing we needed to supply was our food. Libby thought of everything. Libby and Steve are so kind and we really enjoyed talking with them. The peace and quiet, seeing the deer and rabbits in the mornings while having coffee, corn hole, fishing and just sitting by the creek listening to the flowing water as well as the trees lit up with fireflies at night are all a priceless experience! We definitely recommend Sleepy Oaks Cottage and can't wait to go back!

Great getaway in the Allegheny mountains
We loved our stay at the Sleepy Oaks, everything we needed was right there. Peaceful surroundings with a lot of deer and birds. Libby & Steve are amazing hosts, they thought about every little detail in the cottage. Only issues for us were -the gravel road leading into the property was slightly difficult to navigate in the rains and the bed was smaller than we expected. Overall we loved it and highly recommend this cute cottage!
