About this property

Kings w/Pool & Grill, 15 mins to Fort Benning

  • Cool off in a private in-ground pool with a diving board, then dry off in Adirondack chairs around the fire pit as the evening settles. Four bedrooms, two of them king rooms, a game room with a full-size pool table, a covered patio and a fully fenced yard where the dog is welcome too. It's an easy landing spot for families and groups traveling together, on a quiet street minutes from base, campus and the river.

The street out front is quiet enough that you'll hear birds before you hear traffic. Open the back door and that changes — the pool, somebody racking balls in the game room, six chairs pulled around a fire pit under the trees. This is the kind of house you rent when everyone is coming: graduation weekend, a reunion, a family in town for the same reason and unwilling to split across three hotels.

    THE HOME
Everything is on one level, which matters more than people expect when you're traveling with grandparents and toddlers in the same group. The living room, dining table and kitchen share one open space, so whoever is cooking is still part of the conversation. Three bedrooms sit down the hall, and 4th Bedroom off the kitchen for full privacy, the game room opens to the backyard, and the pool is never more than a few steps away.

    LIVING ROOM
An aqua sectional wraps the room with a matching ottoman, so a dozen people can sit down without anyone perching on an arm. The 65" smart TV is mounted above a light wood console, wood-look flooring runs wall to wall, and a ceiling fan turns overhead. Windows on two sides keep it bright through the afternoon. When the group is larger than the beds, the sectional converts to a sleeper for two.

    KITCHEN
White shaker cabinets, stone counters and stainless appliances — full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, built-in wall oven, microwave and cooktop. There's real counter space to prep on, a coffee bar set up and ready in the morning, and a nugget ice maker that ends the argument about whose cup gets ice. Cookware, dishes and table settings are stocked for a full house, and a sliding barn door leads through to the laundry room and to 4th bedroom.

    DINING AREA
A long light wood table with seating for the group, woven wall art behind it and windows on both sides. It's close enough to the kitchen that food goes straight from counter to table, and close enough to the living room that nobody has to leave the conversation. Clear the plates and it becomes the card table.

    BEDROOMS
Bedroom 1 is a king with a slatted wood headboard, a reading chair in the corner and its own en-suite bathroom — the room to give whoever needs the early night.
Bedroom 2 has two queen beds against a blue accent wall with room to walk between them, which is the right room for the kids or for two couples.
Bedroom 3 has a queen with a twin trundle underneath and a small desk by the window. Curtains layered over blinds and a ceiling fan in every bedroom.
Bedroom 4 is the second king, with a 55" smart TV mounted on a vertical slat accent wall and a hanging rattan chair by the window that somebody will claim within the first hour.

    BATHROOMS
Two full bathrooms, both renovated. The first master en suite has a walk-in shower lined in stone tile with a pebble floor and wall dispensers already filled. The second has a tub-shower combo, which is the one you want if you're traveling with small kids. Both have their own vanity with storage underneath.

    LAUNDRY
A full-size washer and dryer in their own room off the kitchen. Pack for three days and stay a week.

    THE BACKYARD
Behind a tall black privacy fence, the yard is genuinely private — no neighbors looking in, and a gate that stays shut, so the dog and the kids can be out there at the same time.
A covered patio runs along the back of the house with a lounge sectional, a rug, outdoor dining and the grill, which means shade in the afternoon and a dry place to sit when a Georgia storm blows through.
Past the patio, six Adirondack chairs sit in a ring around the fire pit under the trees.

    THE POOL
The in-ground pool is the reason most people book. Three feet at the shallow end, eight at the deep end, with a diving board and a deck wide enough for loungers and two big umbrellas. Afternoons run long here. Bring the floats.

    GAME ROOM
A full-size pool table with blue felt, bench seating along the window and darts on the wall. Sliding glass doors on two sides open to the yard, so you can shoot a game and still watch the pool. This is where the night goes after the fire pit burns down.

    WORKSPACE
There's a desk with room for a laptop if someone in the group has to check in with work — enough setup to clear email before the house wakes up.

    NEIGHBORHOOD
This is a quiet residential street in Columbus, the kind where people walk dogs in the evening and you can hear the neighborhood before you see it. Anglin Lake is about a twenty-minute walk. Base is a short drive, and so is the university, the medical district, the shopping on the north side and the riverfront downtown with its restaurants and walking trail. Grocery stores and everyday errands are all within a few minutes, which matters when you're feeding a house full of people.

Most groups end up doing the same thing here without planning it: swim in the afternoon, grill on the covered patio, eat together at the long table, then drift between the fire pit and the pool table until somebody notices what time it is. Come for the graduation, the reunion, the week you're all finally in the same city — the house handles the rest. Save the listing and message us with your dates, and we'll help you sort out the details.

This property does not look like the pictures. The neighborhood is older. Some take care of their homes, others do not. If you stay expect traffic to speed up and down the road. Instead of staying all 4 nights, we left after 3. A few issues to describe: 1) The pool was cloudy and dirty the entire time. It turned my daughter's hair green. We could not find the pool light switch. The host never responded when I asked where it was. A hose was run to the pool on a timer. I assume due to pool leakage. The trees around the pool dropped debris constantly. The pool light was not attached and floated to the surface.2) Flys, mosquitos, ants and nats were everywhere outside. 3) Roaches were spotted in the hall bathroom and around the outside.4) The home was not very clean when we got there. My wife had to sweep, mop and hose off the back patio that had dirt all over it.5) The cabinet doors were not attached on the corner cabinets.6) The pool table did not fit the room and would not allow you to play a game as the sticks hit the wall or sliding glass door. 7) The beds sunk in and the bed frame for the back room was broken. The host offered to come over the first night, did not show up and then I told them not to worry about it as I did not want them there while we enjoyed family time with our soldier. We would not book this place again.
