Quiet, serene get-away
I have rented a different lakehouse every Labor Day weekend for many years and this is one of our faves. The decor will definitely appeal to antique lovers. The large deck is lovely. The lake is very quiet (no wake) and peaceful. We enjoyed taking the paddle boat out on the water. Not great swimming off the dock (overgrown weeds and such), but we took the boat out to the middle of the lake to swim. We were able to fish right off the dock. The water in the cottage has a bit of a smell and metallic taste, so I reccomend bringing bottled water for drinking. No air conditioning, but the cottage is very shaded and stayed cool enough. All in all, a great little escape for me and my family!

The property was great! The only downfall was no AC.
We loved the property and location! Very quiet. The location was perfect for the groomsmen for my daughters wedding and for my daughter and new son in law on their wedding night! The only thing was there was no AC and the guys that stayed upstairs was hot an did not sleep well because of it! But the weather was really hot! Suggest bringing fans for the upper bedrooms.

Secluded relaxation
Great place to get away from the city and fish, hang out with family and friends on the multi-level porch or spacious main floor, and watch eagles and sunsets! Inside is a nostalgic trip of regional American history and a nod to the agriculture so prevalent in the area.

Our stay was great, however there was no mention of the horrible smell of the water. We purchased water for drinking and showered at my son's house which was only 15 minutes away. We managed just fine. We generated more trash than the can provided. Overall we loved it. Reminded me of better times from my youth. We felt safe and neighbors were nice.

Relaxing stay on a quiet lake.
The house is very homey with tons of antiques to look at. We felt very comfortable and relaxed here. The deck is wonderful allowing for many places to sit and enjoy the lakes and sunsets. There is a big snapping turtle that visits near the dock daily. We enjoyed a The peaceful lake and had a good time fishing.

Great place to disconnect.
I was hesitant to rent this property because it does not have AC. However, the house is covered by a lot of shade and the house stays remarkably cool. Even on our hottest 85 degree day there was a nice breeze off the lake amd we were comfortable. We did not swim in front of the home because our boys (9 & 11) were scared of a very large snapper that was not bashful and not afraid of people! We used the nearby public beach which was well maintained and less that 5min away. Close enough you could take the paddle boat or canoe. Overall a great place to stay with family.

This is the second time we’ve stayed here and loved it. My only concern (which I intend to message about) is that the oven/stove was leaving a dark soot on every single cooking utensil. The mess got everywhere. We tried to clean as best we could but it truly went all over the kitchen. Not sure if just the burners need to be recalibrated or something. But the cabin is just as lovely and beautiful as last time.

Lovely lakeside getaway
The Cottage was a unique and inviting destination for a long family weekend. Fishing was bountiful, and we appreciated the decor and devotionals. The children camped out upstairs one the night became too deep to enjoy the peaceful surrounds from the multi level deck. Homey and inviting, we recommend!

Great Place to Stay
The owners have not missed anything here. The cottage is cute and comfortable and clean. The deck are is very welcoming and invites you to sit and relax for awhile. Quiet lake and neighborhood, great for getting away from the hustle and bustle. Paddle boat was the best! We will certainly be going back again!

Nice Lake House
The location is great. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed it. Here is the but - the sump pump runs constantly and it can be heard throughout the house. It is a bit over decorated, kind of like living in an antique store. And the linens are cheap and slide off the bed all the time which quickly gets annoying. Overall it is great place to stay, it is right on the lake, great for kayaking and fishing, the place is clean and sunsets are wonderful.

Nice secluded getaway
We enjoyed our stay in this rustic eclectic cabin. Plenty of space to spread out and very nice lake view and access. Kinda had to figure things out on our own with minimal guidance but we managed.

Cottage on Postage lake in Climax
Very nice setting and the story of the start of their family ownership of the Cottage. A lot of care was taken to the display of personal effects. We had very pleasant weekend in October. A cool rustic cottage with plenty of space and lots of charm and character. Very comfortable. Awesome deck leading to a very quiet lake. Just perfect for a quiet retreat. We enjoyed our stay and felt very at home here.

A charming cottage decorated with history and love...
This cottage is clean and entertaining inside as it is cleverly decorated with amazing antiques. There is a gorgeous large deck for entertaining and sunsets. The kayak and paddle boat are fun to use, but you should know the lake is not great for swimming due to overgrown seaweed and shallow depth throughout most of the lake. There is a sandy public beach, however, just a short paddle away that we found clean and fun to swim. Kayaking through the lily pad blooms was pretty lucky, too.

Charming
Had booked this place to have a short vacation with family. The amount of really neat/unique items that surround you inside the cottage kept us busy the entire stay. My two year old loved all the vintage toys, and tractors and felt at home at this place. The outside temps during our stay were in the mid 90s, we spend a lot of time on the deck with the breeze of the lake coming in. The cottage doesn't have AC, but we used the fans they have throughout to stay cool. Lots of bibles, scripture and old Hymnals to look over as well. The entire place was clean, and well kept. We enjoyed the use of the paddle boat, and hope to return again to try fishing as we could see the fish in the very clear lake. The climax of the stay was the lack of traffic sounds, as this place is well off the road, at the end of the drive and very quiet.

Beautiful Family Cottage
The Cottage was perfect for our stay consisting of 4 adults, 2 children (ages 5,10), and 2 well behaved dogs. Plenty of room and lots to do. The cabin is loaded with knick knacks and lots to explore. Enjoyed having our own dock to have our jet skis. The Cottage had a paddle boat, small row boat, kayak, fishing poles, and lots of other items to use during our stay.

We loved staying at the cabin. We immediately felt comfortable. It is spacious, yet cozy. Everything we needed for cooking was there. Lots of great outdoor living space. Private location yet easily accessible via highways.

Beautiful Cottage Retreat

Best Cottage in the Midwest!
If you are looking for a cozy and unique rental with lake access to get away from it all look no further! We had a wonderful stay here. It’s definitely a step above other rentals in the area and comes with a paddle boat and kayak, I spent most of my time fishing off the pier, caught about a dozen bass and bluegill the first day. my wife and I have stayed at our share of cabins around the area this is the first one we are considering coming back to. 11 out of 10 for sure!

This was the perfect cottage for our trip! The hosts were so pleasant and responsive. The lake was quiet and beautiful. The house was so adorable and clean! The patio was perfect to just hangout and have meals. It was an amazing stay.
