The room was spacious and clean, and overall the hotel had some positives. The hotel has a policy of locking the doors after a certain time to keep guests safe, with a phone number provided to call for access. While this is a sensible system in principle, unfortunately the night porter completely let it down. I was left stuck outside for around half an hour after repeatedly calling the number, with no answer. Eventually, I had to bang on the front door to get the porter’s attention. Rather than apologising for leaving me outside, he was rude to me for banging on the door. The security policy itself is a good idea, but it only works if staff are awake and available to answer the phone when guests need to get back into the hotel. Perhaps better training or supervision of night staff is needed.
