"Bardonecchia is a ski resort, so accomodations are mostly ski lodges. Do not expect any large hotel chains here. We were here for 5 nights in June and had a great time. Location is close to train station and to the main street where you can find lots of restsurants. The views are amazing and did lots of walks. The accomodations were clean but basic; fridge and microwave eere a plus. The shower was very tiny, so big guys might have some challenges. The owners were very nice and helpful. I will...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Chiomonte?
The best area to stay in Chiomonte is within the village centre itself, particularly around Piazza Balp and the main street, Via Roma.

This central area offers the most convenient access to local amenities and the village's historic character. You'll find a selection of traditional shops, cafes, and trattorias clustered around these main thoroughfares. The architecture features stone buildings and narrow, winding streets, typical of an Alpine village.

For couples seeking a relaxing and authentic Italian experience, staying in the village centre is ideal. You can enjoy strolls through the historic lanes, sample local Piedmontese cuisine at nearby restaurants, and easily access the village's small churches and viewpoints. It's a pleasant base for exploring the surrounding Susa Valley.

Families will also find the village centre convenient due to its proximity to essential services and the ease of walking to local eateries.
When is the best time to go to Chiomonte?
The best time to visit Chiomonte, Piedmont, Italy, is during late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October).

During late spring, the weather is pleasantly mild, and the countryside is lush and green. This is an excellent time for outdoor activities like hiking or exploring the local vineyards without the intense heat of summer. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience.

Early autumn offers equally agreeable weather, with comfortable temperatures and the added beauty of the changing leaves in the surrounding valleys. This period is particularly appealing for food and wine enthusiasts, as it coincides with the grape harvest and various local festivals celebrating regional produce.
