![Medina - Chefchaouen, Morocco
It is known for the blue washed walls and doorways in the old city. Narrow alleys, cobbled walkways, stairs up and down, leading in all directions. 

Chefchaouen's powder blue buildings mirror the cloudless Moroccan sky - but religious rather than stylistic reasons are behind the design choice. Jewish teachings suggest that by dyeing thread with tekhelel (an ancient natural dye) and weaving it into prayer shawls, people would be reminded of God's power. The tradition lives on in the regularly repainted blue buildings.

The walls are adorned with carpets, purses, blankets, paintings  and much more. It was quite an adventure to get lost in the tiny lanes and alleys and discover the many berber shops and products.

« At first we did not feel welcomed. The host had double booked and insisted that we move to another place for the third and final night.We stood our ground as we had specially booked the 3 nights 3 months earlier as a family treat. The next morning we were informed that we could stay.The place is beautiful with amazing views and authentic decor spanning 4 floors and a rooftop patio. Beds were pretty hard but the overall stay was fantastic. »

« The apt is no longer a short term rental, and it was very difficult for us to even locate it. When we finally did locate the owner, after a couple hours of asking around, he was gracious and provided us with similar housing through a friend, free of charge for us. However, the advertised house is no longer being rented out through VRBO. »

"Cet hôtel n’a pas de parking ni de voiturier comme dit sur le descriptif. Nous n’avons pas dormi dans cet hôtel car impossible de garer la voiture. De plus la ville est bondée en cette saison. Nous demandons le remboursement Nous avons vu avec le gérant, il avait pourtant dit qu’il annulerait la réservation. "
