There was nothing safe or secure about this place. My kids and I had a reservation for 8 days, we didn't even stay 8 hours. The condition of our room was beyond horrible. There were cockroaches in our room. The lobby, elevator, stairwells, and hallways reeked of cigarettes and marijuana. Claiming to be a smoke-free hotel. If there was any housekeeping at all it was unapparent. I was an employee of Choice Hotels and their standard for cleanliness was very high, this hotel doesn't deserve the accreditation for being a Choice Hotels. I'll never stay in this hotel ever again nor will I ever recommend this hotel to anyone. Hotel Review: Suburban Studios near UNC-Charlotte My experience at Suburban Studios was extremely disappointing. When I arrived, the room was in such poor condition that I spent an hour and 45 minutes cleaning it myself, including leaving the property to buy my own cleaning supplies. I didn’t bother asking for a different room because I doubted it would have been any better. The lobby also felt unwelcoming. The setup was so exaggerated in its attempt to appear secure that it created an uncomfortable atmosphere instead of a sense of safety. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, the condition of the lobby, and the general environment made my stay far from acceptable. In fact there was pee on the toilet seat and garbage on the floor. And there was cockroaches in the room. When I asked the staff to clean the room, they didn’t. And when I went to complain about the cockroach the front desk employee didn’t want to hear about it. I understand that in the south cockroach’s are more common but the other hotel we stayed at was clean and no bugs in sight. The air conditioner was broken, it blew air but was not cold. The first room I was given had a dirty bedspread with stain on the top and the room smelled of old food. Walking through the hallway, you could smell marijuana and other substances. The area itself did not feel safe and the parking lot had cars with people sleeping inside of them. The lobby had condoms for sale promanadtly displayed. No coffee anyplace on property, no phone or alarm clock in room. Bathroom in rough shape. Very bare room with no personality. Amenities were two tiny bars of soap. My pal who stayed in another room saw a roach while he was packing to leave. It was loud with people who i think lived there. I would totally not reccomend this hotel especially for families with small children.
