A piece of heaven on earth. One of the most memorable and peaceful vacations you'll experience. Away from traffic and large crowds. You'll feel like you're at a resort with all the amenities, including access to a pool, hot tub, tennis courts, golf driving net, bocce ball, basketball court, volleyball and so much more. The beach is only steps from your back decks, it will seem as if you're by yourselves on most days. Ocean views from the living, dining, kitchen and one of the master bedrooms. The Monterey Dunes Colony is a gated community on the beach sitting between Monterey and Santa Cruz. Close to excellent restaurants, shopping, hiking and other outdoor activities. This house features 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with beautiful ocean views and direct beach access. One of the master bedrooms, the main living area, dining and kitchen have beautiful views of Monterey Bay. You can watch dolphins, seals and whales from the comfort of the living room, dining area and outdoor decks. Beautiful sunsets are a daily occurrence. This house is ideal for a large family or 2 smaller families. You have the entire house and also get to take advantage of the gated community amenities. The unit is split level with a vaulted ceiling in the main living area with lots of windows to take advantage of the ocean view. There are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. One of the master bedrooms has a king size bed with a beautiful ocean view with an attached full bathroom with a shower. There is a deck just outside this master bedroom. The other master bedroom has a queen size bed with an attached full bathroom with a tub/shower. The third bedroom is on the same level as the living area with two-double beds. The third bathroom has a tub/shower and is between the upstairs bedroom and the living area. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, and pans etc. There is a large refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. Enjoy eating your meals either indoors or outdoors on the patio dining set. We also have a full size washer and dryer. There is a TV in the main living area and in one of the master bedrooms with local channels available. We have Wifi set up, but because of the secluded location on the Dunes, it can be spotty at times. The Dunes has a Club with a pool which is open April to October, tennis courts, basketball hoop, bocce ball and golf nets. We can only host 7 people at one time INCLUDING INFANTS (the HOA has very strict rules). We get fined $150/night per person over 7 and will be assessed to your stay, should a violation occur. Also no smoking will be tolerated. While we love pets, we cannot allow guests to bring their own animals as the HOA does not allow it. There is a fine of $400/animal that will be assessed to your stay and the animal must be removed immediately. There is an additional cost per night of 10.5 % Monterey County tax and a $150 cleaning fee per stay (It will be listed as a Host Fee). The Service Fee is VRBO's fee. The grounds are beautifully kept with boardwalks straight to the beach alongside an ecosystem of sand dunes. Fantastic large lounge that fits a large family in comfortably. I particularly enjoyed the large main bedroom as it looks out onto the Ocean. Our grandchildren loved running free on the beach and the heated swimming pool. If you want to go out to eat it is a drive away at Monterey. We went on an amazing whale watching tour from there and saw dolphins, sea lions, a shark and many humpback whales. The pool and hot tub area were great. They're remodeling the office area near the pool and have installed brand new tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts. The proximity to the beach, the wildlife in the water and around the house, and the house itself met and exceeded our expectations. The only setback would probably be parking in the HOA for an extra car but we made it work with the assigned parking spot and various guest parking spots near the house. The community felt very safe, and the house had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The sunsets each night were beautiful and we enjoyed them from the beach with our kids. It is in a gated community with security with shared amenities for the people staying there. That being said, this particular unit has a lot of deferred maintainence and was not at all clean. Every surface touched was sticky or dirty or both. We only stayed two days but if we had stayed longer there were insufficient towels for the 3/3 unit. Little things were missing which I would expect in such a highly rated property such as: Kleenex, a hair dryer. The outside furniture was plastic chairs that were cheap and dirty. The entry way patio with grill was all covered and looked like it had not been used in awhile; not at all as represented in the pictures. The unit is three stories which was also not described in the listing and would have made a difference as everyone staying there was over 65\. The fireplace was unexplainably unusable, lamps were inoperable - didn't even have a switch to turn on, the rug in the upper room was a trip hazard. Overall very disappointed. ##### RICHARD S. This is a great spot directly on the ocean. We were in Monterey after a family wedding and rented several units in Monterey Dunes Colony. We love this development! It's perfect for a low key getaway to explore all that Monterey, Carmel and the coast have to offer. The unit is exactly as it appears in the pictures. We stayed for a long weekend with 5 adults. We all had plenty of room with the 3 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms, and all slept well on the comfortable beds. We found the Wifi to be pretty good and we had a number of devices using it. The property manager was communicative and we had no issues during our stay. I stay in a number of VRBOs and found the set up was good with plenty in the kitchen to cook & serve meals. The view is fantastic and it's a very short walk to the beach. We drove to Monterey Fisherman's wharf a couple of days and that's about 20 minutes away. The only suggestion I would make is to add some more throw blankets as we were staying in the fall and found it a little chilly and didn't want to all drag the bedding off our beds to be cozy. It’s a beautiful quiet beach with amazing sunsets, birds and very few people. House is roomy and comfortable, decor is beach house vibe. We had a lovely time and it was a great location to access Moss Landing for whale watching and great coffee/cafe and also Carmel and Monterey. Would definitely consider staying again. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Only improvements suggested - Kitchen implements need some attention - at least one sharp knife or a knife sharpener, the nonstick pans need to be replaced and the dishwasher is ancient and does not clean well. You may think with these being townhouses you might hear your neighbors but that is not the case. We only knew people were there due to their cars parked in the spot. Beach is a very short walk and private as well. We saw whales, dolphines, a seal, and even an otter. We also saw lots of cute bunnies around the vegetation. The house has everything you need for cooking and they even provided shampoo in the showers. They have beach towels if you decide to go to the pool for a swim. Very minimal rules and clean up procedures. Owner is very responsive and nice. We loved this location as it had the same privacy feeling for us coming from the sierra mountains.
