No hot water for a shower and had to ask for heating to be put on in the room, our stay was November. Very cold and draughty hotel.

Dear Scott, Thank you for taking time out to review us.I would like to address your points as they were not aware of them during your stay. We were more than happy to check you in when you arrived quite a bit earlier than our check in time, at this point we changed the timer on the heating in your room to go in. As a rule the rooms are beautifully warm within good time of the guest checking time. Reference hot water, there is an abundance of hot water, I must apologise the room you were in takes a couple of minutes for the hot water to come through, thus should have been communicated to you at checkin and this information is also available in the room in the information. I have discussed this with the team.Best wishes Tammy

Beautiful rural setting. We had a lovely stay. Friendly, welcoming staff, lovely room with comfortable bed and perfectly cooked food! We will stay here again.

Requires refurbishing.
Fabulous grounds but the hotel itself is in need of serious refurbishment. Our room still had wood chip wallpaper on the walls. That said the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great.

Dear ? Thank you for your feedback reference our wonderful team, service & food. We are very proud of this beautiful old building that is full of character and a grand 250 plus years old. We have upgraded over the years since we took over this small family run hotel. We have intentionally not modernised this building as we feel the character & charm and commitment that has been put into restoring & maintaining the property inside & out over the years would do no credit to the building and we do not wish to be the same as modern city hotels.The large comfortable room your were appointed, as have all of our rooms has been replastered & insulated and finished with quality heavy duty wall paper for added warmth, alongside sympathetically done new en-suites for the comfort of our guests. I hope this clears up your points raised, and I appreciate it is your personal preference. We are very proud of our hotel, team & continued commitment to develop of this property but do understand that a more modern style hotel is to the liking of the occasional guest but I do find it a shame that personal preference comes before experience, charm, comfort & property type & location & value for money. We try to be clear that we are not a modern style city hotel through our booking sites.Warm regards Tammy

The room was well appointed and comfortable. I found the breakfast ok, and the attendant not observant of our needs despite it being not busy, at the time we were dining only the two of us. We would have lived more coffee and some yogurt but the attendant had left the area not to be seen again. We also were not given the code for the outside door and had to call to get back in after arriving back from dinner out. The greeting was warm upon arrival, the bedding nice. The shower took very long to achieve proper pressure and heat. It was a lovely place despite these things.

A disappointing overnight stay
The worst overnight stay my wife and i ever had cleanliness was appalling dog poo bin at front door smelt terrible had to ask for it to be cleaned windows filthy outside area very unkempt asked to be moved from bedroom looking out on the roof of the kitchen i could go on this hotel should be closed until it has a full make over

Good Scottish independent hospitality
Quick check in, room very spacious though could do with a few more hangers. Looks recently refurbished carpet and headboard and bed very comfy. TV on bracket has good swivel so can be viewed both in bed or from the sofa or chairs. Would benefit from a large bulb in the bedroom center light. Bathroom bit small and the shower cuts out a lot of the light from the basin. Food all freshly cooked to order and the curry dishes should not be missed - all excellent authentic with delicate spicing, not burning hot as some can be. Breakfast again cooked to order and served at the table other than juice and toast.

Beautiful hotel set in stunning gardens. The room was large, clean and had everything you needed for an overnight stay. The bathroom was also large with a great strong shower. There were toiletries supplied along with a hairdryer. The room was a bit damp smelling but I think maybe just a couple of hours with the window open before arrival would have solved that as no damp in the room. The hotel was quiet and had a relaxed feel. Would definitely go again

Hotel has started upgrading the rooms, we would like to add that although we were happy with our stay, the management have indicated our room has been upgraded by them. We would like to suggest that further care is taken regarding upgrade of rooms - professional decorator required to improve look of room, shower area in need of some neater finishes - linen could have been cleaner and breakfast service needs work regarding training, time taken and items available.(also location due to staff going back and forth) Manager was great to chat with and very helpful but he will need to invest more in quality of work to return hotel rooms to the quality he was describing as they just aren't there yet. Best of luck for the future with the works sure to continue for a while.

November 2018 Stay.
This was a spacious hotel in a very quiet area. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The food was tasty with a good portion size.

Fantastic break away
We had an excellent two nights at Ernespie House. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. All the staff we met were pleasant and hospitable. The hotel is spotless and our room was fantastic with all amenities, warm and cosy for such a large room with a wonderful high ceiling, bed was super comfy, lovely pillows and duvets, attention to detail is spot on. We had our evening meal both nights and they were first class. The honeycomb cheesecake is fabulous and I can honestly say the Rump steak was the best I have ever tasted. Cooked breakfast both mornings, delicious! It was very wet while we were there, so we weren't able to have a good look around the vast grounds, plan to do so on our next visit (weather permitting) The couple obviously have many plans for their new venture and we plan to visit again next year and see their progress. Wishing them every success for the future.
