We stayed for two nights at the Craigadam for my birthday. We were greeted on arrival by Connor who showed us to our room and explained the arrangements for breakfast. It was all very informal but friendly. We had to order breakfast for the following morning but we could ask for almost anything, whether this was kippers, salmon, eggs, sausage, black pudding, haggis, mushrooms, tomatoes. There was also a good choice of cereals and fruit and home baked soda bread. Breakfast was at a long dining table so all guests mixed in and we had a good chat, meeting some lovely people. In the evening we could stay in the large comfortable room, have a bath in the huge tub, or play snooker and make use of the honesty bar. Evening meals had to be booked in advance but weren't available when we stayed as the lady owner was away. However, the staff made some good recommendations for restaurants in the vicinity which were excellent. You could relax in the outdoor courtyard, weather permitting as well as have a walk in the extensive grounds.
Over all this hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere, with friendly staff and comfortable rooms. It's not perfect in terms of furnishings and finish, but that adds to its charm. We would be happy to come back... we left chilled out and really enjoyed our stay.
