Great location. Car parking and breakfast were free which was excellent. Lyn on the desk was superb so helpful and really made our stay.

Having arrived at this hotel on Sun 19th June 2022 I was shocked to discover that the hotel has been closed since February 2022, I received no correspondence notifying me that my booking was changed to another hotel further away

Unaware of relocation and hotel closure
Disappointed as the holiday inn express had been closed the public since 1st may 2022. I was not informed of this until I arrive at the hotel as was told we had been relocated to the holiday inn hope street. Which was great and the service was next to non. However it would have been nice to be told that our stay had been relocated as I made me way to the holiday inn express and told my only way to the holiday inn hope street was a 20 min walk or 7 in a taxi which I thought should have been provide due to being unaware of the relocation.

The Hotel itself is located in the University area, but around 10-15mins walk to the centre. Helpful staff and also bedroom nice and clean. Would recommend

Arrived before 9am and they were able to check me into my room straight away at no extra cost. Good sized room and bathroom, lots of sockets and nice lighting. Slept very well, no noise disturbance from other rooms or outside. Good buffet breakfast and parking included in the price of the room. About a 20 minute walk to the city centre. Lots of nice places to eat nearby. Very good value. Would highly recommend.

Not great value for money
I have stayed in several Holiday Inn’s over the years (usually happy with them) and this was the worst. I stayed at the 2nd floor, and at least there they seem to have a problem with vacuuming and tidiness. Both the corridors and the room had quite a lot of hair in the carpets, and the corridors had on different occasions crumbles and a smashed glass in front of the room doors. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel area is nice. They just definitely need to improve the cleanliness.

Overall nice stay
Overall I was pleased with my stay. There were a few problems. On my last night, the room had not been serviced. There was a lack of social distancing at breakfast, guests did not stick to their allocated time slot, and this was not regulated by staff. I had requested vegetarian sausages and they were served burnt, which was disappointing.

Could hear the noise from the hallway in the day. Staff were nice, no issues parking, breakfast was basic but nice. The road the hotel was on isnt very appealing but there is nice food places and bars about 5 mins walk and its not a bad walk into the city centre.
