I reserved three rooms for my whole family to visit LEGOLAND. We really liked the hotel and the breakfast. The breakfast staff were very hard working keeping all the guests fed!!! Although the young gentleman at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful, the two ladies were rude and unhelpful. One even asked me what kind of vehicle I drove after I paid the $13.00 for parking. It is none of her business!!! The morning of checkout the other lady was too busy to offer much help and say you’re welcome after we thanked her. We will stay there again on the next trip but figured this would help make a better experience for future guests. Also the 24 hour coffee was awesome. Thanks for the stay.

Liked: Amenities
The positives were good AC, nice breakfast, decent pool and hot tub. We didn't get the room we paid for, they did give a small credit for that. The room had an odor. We didn't get our room cleaned the 2 times we asked, had to track someone down second time while we waited for them to do it because we were out of towels, etc. They were working on the hotel until 8:00 in the evening the last 2 nights we were there which was loud and disturbing. We've had positive experiences at Holiday Inn's in the past but we wouldn't stay here again.

The room was clean. Beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked amazingly! We did have housekeeping ask if we wanted our room cleaned on the second day of our stay. We said yes and it never happened. :( The breakfast was alright. The orange juice and cranberry juice left a lot to be desired. They only had one pancake maker and it took forever. There was a long line every morning.

Disliked: Cleanliness
The staff was very helpful. There were a few things that needed updating. The carpets in the rooms were filthy as evidenced by black water in the shower (from my feet, I was walking barefoot in the room). Our particular second floor room smelled like mold and dog pee. There was no sitting area except one office chair. The staff moved us to a better room downstairs for the next few nights. The pool was great but clearly the patio needs to be updated (powerwashed, cracks fixed, etc.). Towels were tiny and we had to ask at least twice for more towels as the bin was empty. The breakfast was awesome and again, the staff was so nice all around. Great location, of course, by Carlsbad Beach. The only other thing was in our new room, the bar sink was rattling loudly when we turned it on. Not really a big deal for us. We notified the front desk and I am sure that has been resolved. Overall I would say a good stay, but you did ask for honest feedback. :)
