Captiva Beach Tours and Activities

First, the beach here is impeccable and well maintained by this hotel company. The water is a bluish green and very calm and clear. Unlike other resorts, the pictures that I saw before I booked this stay were not photoshopped. We stayed in the beachfront room on the third floor and arrived late at night. When I woke up in the morning and saw the white sand beach and the beautiful ocean, I was blown away.This resort reminded me of a small resort in the Caribbean. You don’t see resorts like this in America, where there’s multiple pools and a restaurant and a bar poolside (with all young, American, clear English speaking staff, I love that). They also had a nice restaurant facing the beach which we had breakfast in. The food was good however I didn’t get a chance to check out their lunch or dinner since I was only there for two days. There was a great place a 10 minute walk or two minute drive called Buzz’s lighthouse which had very good food if you’re into fish and crab. The price for this resort was not cheap, but as I stated earlier, I really haven’t seen a place like this on the beach in America. I’d say there was a value here. I would definitely come back to this place. Bring loose cash in $5, $10 & $20 increments to tip the workers and the valets. They’re working class people in a very rich city.

We stayed 2 nights. It was a nice experience for a staycation, but probably wouldn't go back. There's nothing to do except use the pool. It's Punta Gorda. The pool is nice, but they're inconsistent about the rules, like whether or not they allow children's swim aids. The food is overpriced for the quality but we found the sports bar to have the best food we tried. Quality of drinks is highly dependent on your bartender. Could be good, could be 90% sour mix. They don't advertise it, but there's a scavenger hunt for kids. When they complete it, they might get a free treat. Their name goes into a daily raffle for the free treat. Sorry little kid, your name wasn't chosen. (We were the only participants, but prepare your toddlers for disappointment). We finally got our roomed serviced around dinner time on our second day, but they gave us bathmats instead of actual towels. And nothing was refilled so no pre-breakfast coffee. Speaking of breakfast. There's 2 options. The overpriced sit down restaurant or the long line for the coffee bar that has a sandwich. Everyone I delt with at the concierge was very nice. You can also borrow a selection of boardgames, which is nice because there's nothing to do. Parking for guests is $28 a day.
