The world-known Roman road Via Francigena leading pilgrims from all over Europe to Rome and then to holy land once traced these hills passing close to the farmhouse and still today walkers can be seen on their journey of faith. Smell the flowers in the gardens, pick fresh mulberries and figs to snack on, and see if you and your loved ones can see the town of Lucca hidden away at the bottom of the hill. There’s a professional kitchen for gourmet foodies, a wood fired pizza oven and a BBQ for amazing dinners, a swimming pool for refreshment, and a panoramic terrace just made for the evening’s first bottle of local wine. The hills of Lucca today, they’re home to grand wineries and olive oil farms, which produces organic wines of the finest quality. We spent enormous amounts of time outside, enjoying the views and the excellent outdoor furniture. We had professional chefs (recommended by our fantastic concierge, Erica) who were thrilled with the professional kitchen. The grounds were well-tended by the friendly gardener Angelo. Overall a great experience in a lovely villa. Inside and outside eating areas. Great to have washer and dryer for a long stay. We even had a chef come and prepare authentic italian pizza in the pizza oven. We had problems with a/c that were attended to promptly. The kitchen was fully equipped but did need a thorough cleaning. Check out was lengthy, they decided to check room by room and since we did not know about this we needed to leave for the airport. The kindness of Alessandro who is very available to resolve any kind of problems during the stay. Unfortunately we had a poor wifi due to the switch of supplier. Also the 3 first days we did not have outside lights and air conditioning. But those are details compared to the excellent stay we had at the Casolare Dei Colli.
