"Very central and staff very helpful."
Hotel location very good even though it's in an alley but it's close to most of the tourist attractions and cab drivers knows the location when you mention Jamuna Banquet. The hotel supplies 2 bottles of water daily for the two of us and and breakfast is included. The breakfast is edible and is included. Different variety is served every day. We paid for a room with balcony but didn't up with one.

"Quick review"
Certainly not a 4 star hotel but otherwise very good. Only negative comment is the bedding and towels were well worn and soiled. Like many hotels in Kolkata it is not in a nice area and no fast food eating places except for a McDonald 3 blocks away near Park Hotel. They only have fish, chicken and vegetarian sandwiches. Taxi drivers seem to have a hard time finding the hotel. Best if you have a map to show them. It is rather far from the airport. There were barking dogs outside the hotel that barked frequently during the night making sleeping more difficult.

"December 2015 Kolkata Stay"
1st night stay in Family room was horrible , moles and damp room with foul smell , 2nd day sifted to another room , it was better with ventilation and cleanness Excellent location of hotel for the price you pay, just that the hotel has no lifts , so you got to walk up and down the stair case (old british period building) several times in a day

"Young staff top of their game"
I originally booked at The Oberoi Grand for my first and last nights in India as I had travelled in India twice before and knew how hitting a new town can sometimes be overwhelming and also how welcome some Western style comforts can be by the end of a trip. That brief first night wasn't enough so once on the road I extended the booking to three nights to finish my time in India.I'm so smart sometimes! The service was extremely attentive without being intrusive. The luxury of The Oberoi - and the great food - was so nice after almost a month travelling solo in India. The thought of staying anywhere without the lovely pool in 41 degree heat (for an Aussie like me) was unthinkable. The staff are mainly young - with some awesome veterans too - and so enthusiastic, friendly and keen to please, they really were a joy to interact with and the communication was great in all forms - via email and in person. The buffet dinner is amazing but only if you are really hungry- otherwise I would recommend just ordering dishes via room service. It is definitely worth booking a breakfast with your room deal because the breakfast buffet is so delicious. Mishti Doi is a Bengalese yogurt based sweet dish which could well be the yummiest thing in the world. The beds are heavenly and the pool is an extremely hard oasis to drag oneself away from. I also had two Ayurvedic Spa treatments and they were magic. I loved staying here - can you tell?!!!
