It was a surprise. The area on the way to port was a bit old and I wouldn’t like to do it at dark. Also all footpaths are. Bible stone so it was the first taxi we caught fir the 25 min walk to ferry with our bags which had wheels.

Enjoyable city walks with the stunning Hotel De Ville and gardens. Walkable, plenty of restaurants, sights and shopping.
As we stayed over the canal we did not have enough time to explore the real Calais. Very easy drive to Vimy Memorial ( reason for our visit)
