El trato del personal ha sido excepcional! Las instalaciones están un poco descuidadas. Son cabañas humildes pero tienen lo necesario (cama, ducha y toallas) y se llega andando al pueblo en poco más de 5min. El desayuno muy rico. El lugar estaba prácticamente vacío, por lo que los animales se acercaban y pudimos ver monos y un perezoso, el momento Estrella de nuestro viaje!

Nice place to Stay
El Pizote is a very nice place to stay if you like nature, we saw a Guatusa, frogs, birds, monkeys; also there are big trees that are home of many animals. The property has a nice location at a walking distance from Puerto Viejo. I know that this property needs maintenance, but I understand that this is due to pandemic economic effect. Carlos and his Wife are great hosts.

el lugar considero tiene potencial sin embargo lo tienen muy descuidado, hay MUCHOS insectos como moscas, zancudos, cucarachas entre otros en los bungalows. la pileta del baño estaba muy sucia y el bungalow tenía un olor peculiar y había mucho comegen. considero pueden darle más mantenimiento en cuestión de limpieza, orden y cuidado.

I liked that we were the only guests there, and the breakfast was good.I did not like that the rooms were unclean, run down, not up to good standards..i could not sleep because I was afraid of bugs..we had to move 2 times due to door locks not working..first room wouldn't lock, second room we got locked out of..no A/C or TV in rooms and we had to pay extra for a room with A/C..the grounds were beautiful with much tropical landscaping, but the cabanas, cottages, pool area, were run down, in need of cleaning and painting..I would not recommend anyone staying here..was very disappointed and disgusted, would have left but I would have been charged, and lost money, so I just stuck it out the best I could..and couldn't wait to get out of there

Bungalow #4 had insects all over the place, mostly cockroaches which was disgusting. Last two nights were terrible because there was a bat inside the bungalow. Service wasn't good, the female host seemed to be upset for having guests and I also noticed the bad way she treated her staff members. The hotel entrance was muddy and dark. I liked the breakfast tho.

Overall, our stay here was excellent. We loved the little cabins with kitchenettes. It is very peaceful and beautiful as you’re a bit removed from the town of Puerto Viejo and the included breakfast is very good. The pool is nice but some of the grounds and facilities are a bit run down. This didn’t really bother us however and we were very pleased with our stay. Wifi only in the lobby, not in the cabins. Pool table and ping pong available to guests. It would have been nice if there were hammocks set up to relax in! Overall, great place!

Pura Vida Vibe
This is amazing we got to see wildlife right out of front door.The owners were really friendly and welcoming with the Pura Vida vibe. Our stay included free breakfast and coffee so that saved us a lot..is more for the eco friendly hippie vibe people and families.We truly enjoyed it.

Unique surroundings, away from busy Puerto Viejo center, abundant wildlife, super friendly staff, no stress. The rustic conditions may turn off some people but the advantages far outweigh this aspect. Individual bungalows ensure privacy.

Nice place to stay
Very Nice place. It is surrounded by nature so it is expected to find different types of animals. The staff was friendly You get what you pay for. The swimming pool is big si kids enjoy it a Lot. Very close to the beach

Room is very básic: AC, small beds and very old appliances, wireless just in breakfast area, swiming pool is just fine. Breakfast is generous (pinto, eggs, fruits and coffe) one good thing is that is about 1 km from Puerto Viejo downtown so is very quiet.

I arrive to the hotel with my family, the room was definetly not the one you show in the pictures, the room we get was in bad conditions and we decide to go to another place, the owners were very good people and they undestand.

Nice and clean and quietly
Beautiful place and safety, is clean with beautiful gardens , take the bungalow , and they have new rooms with a/c and kitchen for big families , the bungalows are for rest and enjoy the nature sounds, I will back, is near but outside of the Puerto Viejo downtown without the party . The beach is near can walk 400 mts and you have beautiful beach. Don’t have restaurant but the food express are incredible ask to owner for the number.

Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in in recent times. Such a shame as Great Location, Great Grounds.. So much potential BUT the service is terrible. The lady owner is miserable and unhelpful. Only allowed one towel per day to shower and use in the pool. Not possible to have fried eggs instead of scrambled in complimentary breakfast. . Toast is like cardboard. Fruit piled on a plate. The rooms were old, tired and dirty. In need of total refurbishment. Only 2 have Air-con and without is too humid. No TVs or WiFi in the rooms. Beds are hard and uncomfortable and sheets are old. On a busy weekend we were only people staying in the hotel. The pool area could be fantastic but there is no shade or umbrellas, the seats were old and stained. The pool bar was full of garbage and very dirty. This has all the signs of a hotel which has no money and is just fleecing tourists. Plus the price is far too high even if all the issues were fixed. Communal area is always in use by the owners and the dog.

With a few minor changes.....
I stayed here for four nights and I like the location, not in Puerto Viejo but within walking distance (10 minutes). Across the road from the ocean which you can walk the beach to town. The grounds were nice and the pool area was nice as well. I really enjoyed my stay here except for the beds and pillows were like concrete. The breakfast could be better.....if you can't serve something well (toast) then don't serve it at all. I did not feel welcome here as a tourist and that is too bad as it really is a nice place. If they changed the beds, improved the customer service, atmosphere and tweaked the breakfast....this place would definitely be worth returning to. I am hoping the owner reads this because it is a missed opportunity for a great place!!!

Is a not modern hotel, a little old if we can say but is peaceful, comfortable. The rooms can be more private between each other but they are not. The interesting is that it seems that it was built several years ago but no major facilities enhancements have taken place until now, then if you are fine with this you won't have any issue at all. Fear to say that the hotels around are kind of the same style since the towns and people are very relaxed!. It has 2 ping pong tables and one for billar. They have a very good breakfast, enough to use it as brunch. They served from 8-10 the breakfast which I would be more flexible to start since an earlier hour such as 7am as in other hotels nearby. Is pretty closed to the Black sand beach and to Puerto Viejo downtown (walking distance), however if you return at night the entrance (about 200-300 meters) does not have artificial light then it would be a dark walking experience at night, if you don't matter go ahead! :). Finally the owners are friendly although they were not flexible to let us leave a little longer, which is something very common in CR, especially considering the day we left was a holiday and people coming to the facility wouldn't be a lot, I consider this reaction as not very customer service oriented. However they can learn, I guess.

In the high seasson, our most expensive room rate for a double occupancy is less than the rate mentioned. This room include AC, Kitchenntte, hot water and 2 double beds . This is less than the average rate in the area.

The owners were so sweet and made a great homemade breakfast for our family. The property is so beautiful and the pool was great. Unfortuatly the cute little bungalow we were staying in was really hot, and had the hardest bed I have ever slept on. The wifi is only available at the main building and the rooms do not have a tv. This is not a bad place to stay but everyone should know what they are getting before they get there.
Thanks for your comments, they are very important for us. We are working to extent the wifi to reach the rooms.

Wer eine Dschungelcamp Erfahrung sucht ist hier genau richt. Einfache Hütten in einem großen Garten in dem sämtliche Tiere Costa Ricas zu finden sind. Sehr freundliche Gastgeber und die Unterkunft hat genau die richtige Lage um nach Monzanillo oder Cahuita zu kommen

Lo único que nos gustó fue el desayuno, que en realidad es muy bueno. No nos gustó que la propiedad está muy descuidada, comenzando por el rótulo que está en la calle principal que es tan viejo que ya no se ve, siguiendo por la entrada que no está para nada presentable, las habitaciones son super viejas y lamentablemente no les dan mantenimiento general, entonces encontramos aires acondicionados muy viejos, cortinas sucias, fachadas de las habitaciones en mal estado, jardines descuidados, piscina que necesita reparaciones, areas comunes ya muy viejas, tuvimos que ponernos alertas con el precio convenido porque nos estaban cobrando más dinero de lo acordado, tuvimos que solicitar que nos cambiaran de habitación porque la que nos asignaron tenía un olor muy fuerte a humedad y a orines de murciélago, las fotos de la propiedad que presentan en Expedia probablemente son de hace 10 años cuando el lugar seguramente no estaba tan descuidado. Definitivamente a este lugar le hace falta una inversión muy grande de dinero para arreglarlo y que funcione correctamente. Lamentablemente no recomdamos este lugar y tuvimos que quedarnos porque no teníamos más opción.

If your budget is limited, reserve here, but don't expect luxury stay, it's only for to sleep. Personnel is not friendly, and during my stay I can't use the pool but it was not full clean, maybe beacuse of the weather. However, if you are looking for something cheap with the rainforrest experience this will be the place.
