Our stay at Kathy's place was amazing. Extremely cozy cabin on a beautiful property that is secluded yet still close to Canton and Tyler for fun activities. Kathy was a perfect host and very communicative. We look forward to staying again!
We had a great time staying at the Dragonhead. The surroundings are beautiful and the house was nice. Kathy was a great hostess with wonderful suggestions for eating and shopping! Had a couple of hiccups along the way but things were handled with professionalism. We had a memorable experience, and would come back.

Anniversary Getaway
The location of the cabin was great. The cleanliness of the grounds was bad. Dirt and leaves everywhere. Outside had dirty furniture and furniture that was not safe to sit on. No storage inside for clothes due to many closets and drawers filled with paperwork and binders. Ladder to upstairs (where thermostat was located) was quite precarious - no hand holds. Kitchen drawers jammed with utensils and pots - difficult to rummage through.
The hostess was very cordial and accommodating.
First I recommend booking directly with the hosts through Dragonhead Retreat. Much easier!
My husband, our French bulldog, and I had a truly wonderful stay! The property was absolutely beautiful, nestled into a hilly pine forest. Our dog loved going on walks through the property and meadow. The lodge was so cute and unique! Very very clean and welcoming. Everything you need is provided. There is a great outside fireplace area. The stay is very relaxing and peaceful. A great place to ‘unplug’. We enjoyed going to Tyler State Park and hiking on some of their trails. We also loved getting breakfast from The Donut Palace. The croissants and boudin pig in a blanket are awesome.
You are in the ‘country’ here but are conveniently located to several small towns and an easy 15 minute drive to Tyler. We had no issues getting around or finding anything we needed.
I definitely recommend booking a stay here, they can accommodate a large number of guests as well! Kathy and Jeff are doing a great job and will be more than happy to have you stay!
From the moment we checked in we were very pleased with the cabin itself. The layout is well done. As we looked around, we noticed there were no TVs in the place. When we went to make dinner on the BBQ and sat out there, we could not help but notice how quiet and peaceful our surroundings were. We then ate and spent hours out there. The sounds of nature were loud and clear. When we went in the cabin and prepared for bed, it accrued to us that this cabin is all about peace and quiet and getting away from all the Hussle and Bussle of the city. It didn't take long to understand why there were no TV's. We were able to sit and sip on wine and have a great conversion about taking this trip. We became very relaxed with not a care in the world. It has been a long time since we were able to do that. The host was absolutely wonderful to deal with. She made our stay just that much better. Thank You Kathy
This place is pretty secluded, lots of peace and quiet. The owner lives on the property attached to the Lodge, however she stays out of your way. She is a very sweet lady. If you need anything she will show up at your doorstep immediately with whatever you need. Everything was clean and very comfortable. My husband and I took our 4 boys here and they enjoyed it.
