Perfect Getaway for Hunters and Anglers. This cozy cabin is located on 5 1/2 shaded, totally private acres, in a quiet cove on Lake Sam Rayburn. The cabin sits back on the lot so there is a limited lake view; however, it is only a short walk down the wooded path to the lake. The cabins exterior, siding, windows, doors, flooring and paint were all completely updated again in December 2020\. Amenities include Wifi, flat screen TV's with Dish Network in the living room and every bedroom, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and s'mores as well as games such as badminton, horseshoes, washers, and ladders. Guests also have access to a 3 man canoe and a kayak for fishing in the cove. For the fisherman, there is a stainless steel fish cleaning station next to the cabin. While we do offer the cabin to those hunting in the Angelina Forest, no hunting or target practice is allowed on the property. If you bring your boat, you can conveniently launch it at Powell Park Marina which is located only a couple of miles away. After a fun filled day pulling skiers/tubes or fishing, you can tie up your boat to the property (providing lake level is at or above 160 elevation). PLEASE check lake levels online for planning as the water levels are controlled by the Corps Of Engineers. If you do not bring a boat, you can easily rent one at Powell Park Marina. Powell Park also rents tubes, skis, knee boards, etc. as well as jet skis. The marina also has a sandy beach and an Aqua Park that can be used by day visitors who pay a fee. If no boat, you can also grab a rod and reel (bring your own bait and tackle) off the rack in the dining room and fish from the floating dock, kayak or from the canoe! OR just grab a book and hang out in the hammocks, on the rockers on the screened-in porch or the chairs around the fire pit and do nothing but relax! When the water level is down, Powell Park marina is less than 2 miles away and on a deep cove. They offer covered boat slips for daily rental fee. Powell Park Marina also sells fuel both on land and on the water. Powell Park also has a convenience store and café that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very cozy and quiet with plenty to do. The lake was down by the cabin but with a ten minute drive to the marina it was still a beautiful sight, We seen otters, deer, eagles and beautiful blackbirds. Then after leaving the marina for the day we went back to the cabin and would sit out by the fire for hours enjoying the sounds of the night. In the morning we would sit outside on the screened in poach enjoying the morning with a coffee and sounds of birds. This is a very relaxing and enjoyable place to make memories. This wasn't like a lot of other VRBO listings where you just rent out one floor or the houses are like they are in Galveston where they're 10 ft apart if you're lucky. This property was in a small subdivision several hundred yards down a dirt road behind a locked gate. I absolutely loved that. At no point over the weekend did we feel crowded or like we had no privacy while laying in the hammock or walking along the Lakeshore. The property itself is huge and there are actually several houses situated behind the gate but none of them are close enough to see each other.The house had plenty of room for our family of six. The master suite is on the bottom floor and the other two rooms are on the top floor. This was nice for my wife and I as we were able to spend some time when the kids went to bed watching TV and having snacks without waking them lol The back porch was awesome as well with seating for eight on really comfortable chairs with a ton of surprise outdoor equipment to play with. The canoe is huge and even though the lake was a little low to put it in we definitely plan on using it next time. The owner responded quickly to any questions we had and was super friendly. Check in was easy. I'm honestly kind of annoyed that VRBO is only giving me 1500 characters because I would love to leave even more than that on this review.
