It’s a little distance from the train station and most restaurants, but it’s a beautiful spot with a good view of the lake and mountains. The breakfast is incredible. The only real issue we had (apart from fairly high price) was that the staff was pretty rude just about anytime we interacted with them in any way. We ended up just trying not to ask for anything. The room was spacious and the newly remodeled bathroom was wonderful. Breakfast was extensive and very organised and had a nice Christmassy feel as music was playing in the breakfast room. My bedroom was a superior double room on the corner of the hotel. One window looked out on the mountains and the balcony looked out on Lake Brienz. So beautiful. Our room was very clean and the view was beautiful. The hotel, like most in Switzerland, has no air conditioning so we slept with the windows open and woke up to the smell of baking bread from the bakery a few doors down. The breakfast is included and had a very nice selection. Our table was waiting for us with a chalkboard sign for a personable touch. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner. The rooms were clean and sufficient. A free continental breakfast was provided during our two day stay, which was average. For anyone considering a stay, just know that the hotel is not directly on the lake. There are some buildings (with construction happening) that obstructed the views of the lake and accessibility to it was not easy. The middle aged female host was humorless and unfriendly, borderline rude. Shopping and restaurants in the area were highly limited. There are other villages on the lake that we wished we had considered for their proximity to Interlaken and other places.
