A perfect little getaway for outdoor enthusiasts, families, writers, artists, or anyone just seeking tranquil solitude. A beautiful private place where art and nature collide. Start your day enjoying coffee outside on the front patio or relax by the meditation garden after a long day of exploring. A wooded property with gardens, creekside trail, rustic screened in porch, decks, firepits, and an 11 acre lake for kayaking, swimming, and fishing to enjoy. Please note the cottage is not on the water, its a 1 mile walk /drive to the lake. There are 2 kayaks, lifejackets, and paddles available for an additional cost of $150.00 or 2 stand up paddleboards for 150.00 for the duration of your stay. A liability waiver is required for all boat use. Transylvania county, land of the waterfalls has over 250 to explore. The cottage is well stocked with trail and guide books for alot of the local parks. Asheville, Brevard, Hendersonville, Cashiers, and Highlands are all surrounding communities that make wonderful day trips. Offering farm-to-table restaurants, BBQ, coffee shops, breweries, art, live music, festivals, shopping, antiques, flyfishing, parks, hiking, and misty waterfalls. Make sure you book in advance for the annual appearance of the Blue Ghost fireflies. This phenomenal event takes place mid May through early June.( Please note that I cannot guarantee or predict the exact arrival date, this is nature) Many of the parks in the area have overwhelming crowds at night due to this spectacular site. Here you will have your own private show, with hundreds and thousands of glowing lights all over the dark forest floor. This was our first trip to Sacred Roots and it was all we'd hoped for. I'm always a bit hesitant booking cabins and cottages, not being sure of the location or the true quality of the cabin. We've been fooled before on both ends--once being overly rustic (i.e. had to leave early due to cleanliness) and a "cabin" that was simply a suburban neighborhood on a hillside. Sacred Roots is the perfect balance. It's only about a twenty minute drive to Brevard and a half hour or more to fantastic hiking and Pisgah. The cottage is immaculate and the grounds are well kept. There's a separate garden area, a fire pit with seating, a mini-tree house for the kids, and lots of area to run around. And even though it is a gated community, the homes are spaced so far apart that you have a complete sense of seclusion and the gravel road to the home and the acres of untouched land gives you the impression of being much further out than you actually are. The square footage of the cabin may appear on the small side, but the living area held our family of five well, and with the screened in porch extending the living space, we never felt cramped. My oldest kid spent the night in the hammock on the porch and loved it! And the sleeping space in the loft has plenty of room with a large bed. And beyond the beautiful property and the perfect location, the owner Sarah was great. Readily available with any questions and quick to respond. She offered suggestions for hiking and dining and the cottage is stocked with trail maps for all the surrounding areas--along with books on almost every other topic. I really can't recommend this cottage enough. If you're looking for a spot near Brevard with easy access to surrounding areas and a cottage that feels like a destination of itself, this is it! ##### Brandon E. Fireplace in and outside most helpful in a very private environment. Many waterfalls in the area to explore. Must drive to Brevard for shops and restaurants about 20 minutes. Plenty of places and ways to get away from it all, and yet there is plenty to do while at this cottage. The place is beautifully decorated and there is always something new to notice. Lots of information on the local area for hikes through the mountainside and plenty in the area to do if you like to get out with nature. It appears that the host must spend plenty of time here as well, so it felt more like we were visiting a friend rather than staying in a vacation house. The kitchen is well-stocked, the book shelves are filled with interesting books, the screen porch and front porch and well-groomed grounds provide plenty of outdoor seating and trails to explore. If you need the loft sleeping area, be sure someone feels comfortable climbing the ladder. The view from the loft is the best view of the whole house, and a small restroom is located there for convenience. We hope to return to this retreat, but next time it will be a destination rather than home base for our outdoor adventures. Stayed 4 nights in Jun 2021 ### 8/10 Good #### Cori May 20, 2021 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Beautiful cabin So many great qualities at Sacred Roots: I loved all of the beautiful flowers on the porch, ferns along the forest line. Calming spa music playing when we arrived, and fresh flowers floating in a bowl. Lovely touches (my favorite was the collection of pottery mugs). Sarah was also quick to respond when I had technical difficulties with the lock box. Overall, a beautiful spot that feels secluded enough without being too far away from others. Night can be unsettling, however, as the front door and several windows don't have coverings on them. Outdoor lighting is minimal. Location is about 20 minutes outside of Brevard. High Falls/Rainbow Falls are about 45 minutes away. Rainbow Falls is definitely worth the drive. ##### Cori Stayed 3 nights in May 2021 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Fred w. She went above and beyond to give us local recommendations and communicate with messages. We were getting in late and she left the lights on for us. But, after figuring it out we opened the door to the beautiful house. We loved the decorations, the plants, the crystals, and the books. Spent most of the day exploring the grounds, and a lot of time on the swing, before heading off to see the waterfalls. We felt the love, care and the spirituality of the place. We loved it! Beautiful place, very quite! There is so much to see and do around Brevard, hiking, waterfalls, small town atmosphere!! Plan one day to stay ‘home’ at the cabin to enjoy the quietness and rest!
