Families walk through the woods and roast marshmallows over the firepit. Sun-lovers tan on the deck and then lounge in the hot tub... No need to worry about thin walls or loud neighbors or traffic noises...or people even knowing where you are! Our address is literally off the map, tucked away within 8+ acres, hidden by trees on 3 sides and Lake Taneycomo on the fourth. Though just 3.5 miles from Hwy 76, 6 miles from Branson Landing and minutes further to all the fun Branson offers, you may never want to leave once you pull in... Wake-up in your comfy bedroom (each one has a different theme!) to watch the deer in the morning. Warm-up to winter seated fireside by the Lord of the Rings chess set. Take a nature hike with loved ones. Enjoy laughter with family and friends around a grand dining table, over a game of shuffleboard, table bowling, foosball, arcade games, or with the Wii. Watch the sunset with a panoramic lake view on one of the decks. Relax in the 8 person hot tub or detox in the 2-person sauna before you say, 'good-night.' And end the day with a cup of your favorite coffee and a great book from Rivendell's house library as you sink into one of our fabulous chaises and chairs. Welcome to our retreat home. Every inch is devoted to spiritual rest and renewal. Welcome to a private haven hidden in the woods on Lake Taneycomo, a cold water fishing lake. Welcome to a resting space where no one can find you and no one is calling your name. And if you're still reading...here are five notes for you: 1\. Our home is county permit approved with an occupancy up to 20 guests. 2\. No amplified music or weddings are permitted because of how sound travels along the lake. 3\. This property sits atop a scenic bluff overlooking beautiful Lake Taneycomo, offering breathtaking views from the house and a tranquil escape at the dock below. Guests can access the private dock via a natural wooded trail, but please note that the hike is moderate and may be challenging for individuals with mobility issues or elderly guests. While trickier sections have stairs to assist, the trail includes uneven terrain and is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. The stunning sunset views from the dock are well worth the effort — a peaceful reward after your trek through nature! 4\. Our home is now 27 years old and every year we tackle a new project. In 2018, that was a new roof. In 2019, a new heating/air unit. And our focus in 2025 is brand new exterior paint, windows, a full path to the lake, and refreshed decks. 5\. Please note that our home is in the WOODS on a LAKE in the OZARKS. Dirt paths and wood stairs weave throughout the 8+ acres but if you're looking for a manicured arboretum, please keep looking. However, if you're up for some hiking, love the outdoors, and aren't bugged by bugs, you'll really enjoy exploring Rivendell's acreage! There's 7 park benches to discover, a creek bed to explore, and in the spring there's a little waterfall to find. My husband and I have never taken a vacation with ALL of our children and their spouses or significant others, and this is exactly what I needed. Every room showed great care and thought and every bathroom was wonderfully laid out. The kitchen was fully stocked with supplies, I cooked every meal for all 9 adults and 2 children with ease. The table was large enough to accommodate all of us. We have not been able to sit together and enjoy a meal in a very long time. So relaxing and comfortable for all. Well maintained and completely outfitted with everything you can ask for. The host was very responsive and ensured all our needs were taken care of. Loved the showers, jacuzzi, easy access to the lake for trout fishing where we caught several. Beautiful views on the outdoor deck, kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to take care of my large family of 18 ranging from an infant, young children, teenagers and adults. Wish I could live there as it is a dream home. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful house with our family reunion. The cooling system , whitewater and water pressure all earned 5 stars on their own. The amenities and supplies items were nice and plentiful ! The hot tub and sauna, gaming options were all used almost daily. Bring deep woods bug spray if visiting in season. But the house was without bugs , spiders and their webs even . Lots of great wildlife visitors. The description for the trail to the dock is correct , it was a trek and the include grade was no joke.The deck at the house and fire circle were great spaces for our group to have coffee in the am dinner as well as star gaze. Steep trail down to the dock, not for those with unstable gait. Views are awesome. All kinds of birds and even saw a newborn fawn. Grandkids loved the firepit. Very relaxing. ##### Teresa H. Rivendell was an amazing property for us with plenty of privacy for all our guests both outside and in the house, which is hard to find. The fireplaces, deck and accommodations were spectacular. Most games are in outside garage and severly outdated. Dock is extremely hard to access. Basics like trashbags and dishwasher tablets not adequately provided. Beautiful views and nice and quiet. The driveway was a bit difficult because it was super rough right by the house. And everything was amazingly clean with the exception of the kitchen floor. We all wished we had more time to just hang out at the house! Love the big front porch and the decks out back. My husband and i walked down to the dock, beautiful! The directions at the very end were very hard to understand. There was no triple fork. Maybe something bright and easily visible needs to be put out near the correct road to take? The house is beautiful. Every room is different and unique. The hot tub was great. The views are wonderful. We saw 2 bald eagles just about every day that we was on the deck. They would come through in the morning and back through in the evening. I agree with others that says the walk to the dock is very challenging. Especially for my wife that has had both knees total knee replacements and heart problems. Even some of the younger, in shape people that was in our group, it was a challenge. The refrigerator did not make enough ice so we ended up buying a bag. Suggestion: Would be good to have a dish drain to put dishes in that cant go in the dishwasher. And to move the hot tub under a porch. That way it could be used if it was raining or snowing. ##### Brian B. The owners have everything you need for your stay. We were so impressed. And it was so clean not a cobweb or bug in sight anywhere… and I looked pretty hard in the kids’ bunk bed room to make sure. We loved the views from the deck and the sunsets were spectacular. Unless you are in pretty good shape I wouldn’t recommend the hike to the dock though the owners have put in a lot of work adding wooden steps and clearing the path.Still it is steep. The dock is so nice to fish from though we didn’t have any luck we weren’t really prepared for trout fishing.The only suggestion I could make is to find a way to add a TV to the upstairs living area as my elder parents were not able to make it downstairs to the entertainment room. We enjoyed playing chess and checkers and the large kitchen dining table was great for games.We would stay again! ##### Ron P. Secluded with gorgeous views from a sky-high deck but with easy access to the shopping, entertainment and outdoor attractions of the Branson area. Kitchen is well-equipped, beds are great and there is plenty of room inside and out, as well as parking for a half-dozen vehicles. Host was great at answering questions we had on arrival. The only neighbors we saw were the deer, bald eagles, songbirds and maybe a possum. Highly recommended. ##### Terrence M. If you are interested in the dock make sure everyone is young otherwise you will not be able to get there. Twins bed are only for small children otherwise you are in a coffin (that's why bedroom is not shown on website) . Take towels only 1 per person and to do wash need to go in children's twin bedroom as well as turn on light in children's room. If staying in summer do not except to be cool and comfortable on top floor. On porch there are 10 seats so not everyone can seat outside. Rented home from 8/3 8/11 we left on 8/4 did not ask for full refund just something refused say they did not misrepresent. Left and stayed in hotels which was not what we planned. Extremely disappointed in owners response. We had rented a boat for whole week and they refunded me all our money (very good customer service). As far as VRBO is concerned they told me they are only responsible for inside the house and since they said the was a twin bedroom they did not misrepresent, now I know where they stand. Also house does need a complete update. I would NOT recommend this home to anyone and rent homes 2 times a year for the past 20 years and this is the first time I left a house after 1 night. ##### Elise S.
