About this property
Three-Level Cabin with Mountain Views
Welcome to Lookout Place!
Take in phenomenal panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from Lookout Place! Located behind the Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park in Boone, this three-level home is perfectly perched to offer location convenience, seclusion, and long-range mountain views. Downtown Boone is 15 minutes from the cabin, and Downtown Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, and Appalachian Ski Mountain are less than 30 minutes. Wilkesboro and the North Wilkesboro Speedway are about 35 miles away. Take a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, with plenty of lookouts and hiking options, just 12 minutes down the road.
Lookout Place is a three-level cabin with a cozy living room, dining room, and kitchen on the main floor. Leather furniture around a warm wood-burning stove, a flat-screen TV with wood floors, and floor-to-ceiling tongue-and-groove paneling give an authentic cabin feel. The wall of windows surveys the mountains, and the covered deck offers seating year-round. Three queen bedrooms accommodate six guests, with one on the main level and two spacious rooms upstairs. The unfinished lower level includes a kitchenette with an extra fridge, stovetop, and plenty of room to store mountain bikes, ski gear, paddle boards, or other mountain adventure items.
There is wifi, Roku streaming on the TVs, and a washer and dryer at Lookout Place. Please note that there is no dishwasher, and dishes must be hand-washed. The main floor and upper level include window a/c units for summer comfort. There is no a/c on the lower level, which tends to stay cooler even in warmer weather. In addition to the wood stove on the main level, there is a propane wall heater on all three levels. Two dogs are welcome with a reservation for an additional fee.
Enjoy surveying the mountains at the aptly named Lookout Place!
***It is important to note that this home is located on a single-lane gravel driveway with several steep switchbacks. There is a high possibility that it will not be cleared after a snowfall. During winter weather, AWD or 4WD, tire chains, and a vehicle with adequate clearance are necessary. Even with proper equipment, the vehicle operator must be an experienced and capable winter weather and all-terrain driver.

We really enjoyed our stay! Great views! A little hairy getting up to the cabin when the fog rolled in Friday night. Overall a great stay! Easy drives to many local attractions.
View was incredible!! Property was lovely and comfortable, would definitely stay again. One note, the drive up is quite steep on a gravel road so a larger vehicle is preferable to access the property.
We had the best time celebrating my mother’s 80th Birthday in the mountains. We wanted a porch with a good view and this house was perfect! Comfy beds, clean, easy check in, loved the drive up the mountain. We will definitely be back!
Enjoyed a fantastic week of both relaxation and fun. The view is absolutely breathtaking with ever changing colors and backdrop from sunrise to sunset. The drive up the mountain is a bit hairy but the view makes it all worthwhile. The house had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable.
Wonderful cabin! The views are AMAZING. The cabin is spacious, well maintained and very clean. Loved the mountain decor. Easy to get to Boone, Blowing Rock, hiking, etc, but takes about 15min. Single winding road to the cabin takes a while but worth it for the view. Would stay again and would recommend.
The view on a clear day is breathtaking. The deer feed in the back yard every evening. And Rocky Mountain Road is exhilarating, bring your all-wheel drive.
This property is awesome. We spent most of our time on the deck overlooking the mountains. It was like a painting, the photos don't do it justice. The road up the mountain is well maintained and our two wheel drive suv made it up with no issue. Kitchen was stocked well with pots, pan, cooking sheets, utensils, etc... the management company was easy to get in contact with and took care of our issue in record time. I can't say enough good things about the property, management company, and the area of Boone and Blowing Rock. We will definitely stay here again. Book this place, you will not be disappointed
Listing was some
What deceiving as lower level was nothing more than basement with washer dryer and antiquated cabinets and a dog cage. totally useless. Overall home was nice enough. Kitchen well equipped with all we needed for a short stay. Upstairs bedrooms were quite hot. Update to Tired den furniture, drab bedspreads would be an Improvement. And there’s a home goods nearby! Main level Bed was quite comfortable. Needed new shower curtain liners. White towels were nice, too few of them for a four night stay, in summer heat. Nice porch view, saw several deer, but the road up was challenging. Good location, ten minutes into Boone.
Amazing views from the porches and throughout the cabin! Host always responded to my messages within minutes and was extremely helpful and accommodating. Cabin was clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable and kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. Would love to book again next time we’re in the area!
We took a weekend vacation before school resumed and the twins are born. This was perfect. Fog covered mountains, uphill drives, and 15 minutes from Boone and Blowing Rock. The place was clean and most importantly simple. It was exactly what we needed for our 5 year olds first mountain trip.
I loved this place! The views were amazing, the bed was comfy and everything was just as explained on VRBO. My dogs enjoyed chasing their toy in the driveway and down the hill!
Views were awesome!! house was perfect for our stay with our dog. The towns are just lovely and so friendly. Lots to do. Fell in love with Blowing Rock!
This house offered remarkable views during what turned out to be a great weekend to see the foliage. The interior is nicely done in a modern "rustic" theme with cozy, comfortable beds, a relaxing living room (again with stunning views) and a well-appointed kitchen. We felt (and practically were) as if we were on top of a mountain. Our small dog quickly grew comfortable, too! One note: The road to the house has a lot of sharp, steep curves and turns. Take it slow (as we did) and you should be fine. All in all a 10/10 stay!
