They are modest people who were a bit leery of a fancy rental from the internet so I was happy to find this little gem. It was perfect. The gorgeous relaxing river veiw with wrap around porch with chairs to relax in, cozy fireplace with river view and great location close to two hot springs and Sahalie falls. Highly recommend and we will definitely be visiting again in the summer. Our only negative was the dirty toilet bowls but we can live with that lol. ##### Jenny G. Right on the river with river access and a place to sit with a fire pit. There was information left out of the listing that would be important to know when deciding to rent this place. First, the owner didn’t contact us with check in information, I arrived and had to message her through the app and then she responded asking me to call her to get the info, luckily it was not late at night. The inside of the house was actually quite well cared for, I think that the toilets are old and the water has been sitting for a long time as everything seemed to have been recently cleaned. The original owner of the house has his stuff left in place as if he walked out one day and never came back, there are prescriptions in the cabinets from 2001, expired food in the fridge and cupboards from early 2000’s, garbage under the beds, clothing in the closets, and family information/paperwork all throughout the home. Most Important to know, there are human graves throughout the property and one of them says that the original owner was murdered. It turns out that the person whose prescriptions were in the home belonged to the person who was murdered by a neighbor on the property. I think this could be remedied by being sure to put in the ad that there are human graves present and to remove all of the owners personal and expired effects. Location was fantastic right on the river with a little hangout spot in some sand. What was too much cabin in the woodsy feeling was the the two gravestones visible from the driveway on the way in - and like a review on here mentions, one of them murdered ON THE PROPERTY back in 2001 by his neighbor, who happened to get 25 to life in 2002\. As of today he is still in jail but didn’t love that we had to go through that anxiety spiral. Confirmed it on google searches from the name on the gravestone and it honestly made us feel a little uncomfortable- borderline wanted to pack up and leave. Aug 4, 2025 Liked: Location Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication #### Beautiful River Setting, But House Needs Serious TLC The Positives: The McKenzie River setting is undeniably beautiful, with the water just steps from the door. You can sit in an Adirondack chair feet from the river and sip your morning coffee. The TV had Roku, and the bedding felt clean; bedrooms and bathrooms were reasonably maintained.The drawbacks:That said, the home felt poorly cared for. Sponges looked months old, outdoor trash was attracting insects, and there were pest droppings on the deck. Décor and furnishings felt stuck in the early 2000s—there was even food in the cupboards from 2001\. Outdoor furniture and blankets seemed equally old, and a strange bird decoy outside looked unsettling. The house gave off a “still lived in” feeling, as if nothing had been sorted through in decades.Communication was minimal—we never received check-in or check-out instructions and when I called, I did not get a return call for almost an hour. Thankfully, we figured it out. It was uncomfortably warm inside, and when I requested another fan, the host said they didn’t have on. The front screen door didn’t fully close, and while the location is secluded, the house itself didn’t feel particularly secure.This isn’t the worst place you could stay, and the river setting is lovely, but if you prefer a well-kept, thoughtfully managed space, you may want to spend a bit more elsewhere. ##### Angela F.
