The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute right next door is a really well done history of racism and civil rights in the US. Finding the right vantage point to take a picture is tricky and you will need a long lens. I caught her on a very overcast day and was really hoping to catch her with a dark blue clear sky. Maybe next time... Electra stands on her tippy-toes to reach 23 feet and, although it is ungentlemanly of me to discuss, weighs 4,000 pounds. She was originally cast in bronze and then gold leafed. Cleaned and re-gilded on her 70th birthday in 1996, The "Butt-Naked" Babe still looks as intoxicating as ever from her elusive perch.
