![Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves are partly natural and partly artificial caves of archaeological, historical and religious importance near the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. The caves are situated on two adjacent hills, Udayagiri and Khandagiri, mentioned as Kumari Parvat in the Hathigumpha inscription. They have a number of finely and ornately carved caves built during 2nd century BCE. It is believed that most of these caves were carved out as residential blocks for Jain monks during the reign of King Kharavela. Udayagiri means "Sunrise Hill" and has 18 caves while Khandagiri has 15 caves.

The caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri, called lena or leṇa in the inscriptions, were dug out mostly during the reign of Kharavela for the abode of Jaina ascetics. The most important of this group is Ranigumpha in Udayagiri which is a double storeyed monastery. « Cet hôtel d'un luxe inouï a été conçu dans les années trente par un architecte mégalo, inspirateur sans le savoir de Bollywood. Un hôtel peut-être kitch mais super beau avec son immense allée de marbre vert avec de chaque côté des statues, des sculptures d'animaux, une voiture rétro et même ... un avion. Tout baigne ici dans une atmosphère zen, dans une végétation tellement luxuriante qu'on se croirait sous les Tropiques. Le confort est au top, des salons aux canapés profonds à n'en plus finir,...

« 20 sur 20 pour l'accueil, très bon restaurant, on se sent comme chez soi après une journée de visites Les chambres sont très confortables, le restaurant très bon et la piscine très belle. Une seule chose frustrante dont on ne peut s'apercevoir si l'on n'y reste qu'un jour : l'hôtel est entouré d'un superbe jardin ... qu'on ne peut voir qu'à travers des vitres, partout où l'on essaie d'y pénétrer, on s'y heurte, même dans la chambre dont la porte-fenêtre est scellée. Mais à part ça c'est un...

« They gave us a room in the old building and it looks like the old building is not maintained well. Tiles were broken, hanging electric wires, greasy sofa, rusted fridge. All the worst thing someone would like to see in a hotel. not even worth paying 2000 for these kind of rooms. Disgusted. »

![Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves are partly natural and partly artificial caves of archaeological, historical and religious importance near the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. The caves are situated on two adjacent hills, Udayagiri and Khandagiri, mentioned as Kumari Parvat in the Hathigumpha inscription. They have a number of finely and ornately carved caves built during 2nd century BCE. It is believed that most of these caves were carved out as residential blocks for Jain monks during the reign of King Kharavela. Udayagiri means "Sunrise Hill" and has 18 caves while Khandagiri has 15 caves.

The caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri, called lena or leṇa in the inscriptions, were dug out mostly during the reign of Kharavela for the abode of Jaina ascetics. The most important of this group is Ranigumpha in Udayagiri which is a double storeyed monastery.
