The Lodge is the former gatehouse to Spital House estate. It is all on one level and is bordered by woods on two sides and a large fully enclosed garden to the rear. There is an abundance of wildlife to see from the cottage and the fields to the rear have sheep, lambs and cows throughout the rear.

Wonderful stay at The Lodge at Spital House
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. Liz was a fantastic host and answered all of our questions promptly. The cottage was comfortable and cozy, and everything was as described in the listing. The setting is peaceful, surrounded by pastures full of sheep and beautiful gardens. There were several historical places of interest within short drives, and we easily managed day trips to Edinburgh and Loch Lomond. Highly recommend a stay here.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. Beds were excellent and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. Parking was easy. Liz was very responsive to any questions we had. And the lounge was a perfect place to relax after a day out. We were only 2 but 4 people would be very comfortable. Jean

Fantastic stay in this beautiful lodge. The little gate house building was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Good location to get to the coast. Berwick upon Tweed was 10mins away and we went to Edinburgh on the train from there. Host came to say hi and pass on her info if we needed her but we were then left alone. Beautiful short break.

We had a lovely stay at this Lodge very picturesque surroundings. The Lodge is very spacious. Very clean and is well equipped in the kitchen. Great base for exploring the surrounding areas.

Outstanding Little Gem
The owners of this property have thought of everything someone might need for a fantastic stay. We wanted a quiet getaway, which we got - and thoroughly enjoyed but we both commented that the location of the lodge is perfect for exploring the local area too. We couldn't fault the accommodation for anything, it's superb, well thought out, and highly recommended!

We spent 4 nights at the Lodge and really enjoyed it. The lodge is in a great location ideal for a quiet time away but still close to towns. everything was nice and clean and well equipped. Liz our host was very helpful with good communication from the start

The Lodge is a beautiful cottage with fabulous enclosed gardens, love it and the owner is lovely
This is the second time my daughter and little granddaughter and me stayed at The Lodge. My other daughter and 2 grown up grandchildren one of who was up home from her job in London for a few days, came to visit us and my daughter loved it so is going to try to book for her and her husband if available later in the year. The whole cottage has beautiful fittings, kitchen ware and furnishings

Cosy clean cottage in beautiful surroundings
Just back from a week at Rose Cottage with my family and we had a wonderful time. The cottage was cosy, clean and very well equipped in a beautiful location. Communication with host was great and the area has loads to do. Thoroughly recommend!
