Our cabin (Kelly's Point) is situated 40 feet from Lake Michigan on a 2 acre Parcel. The views of Lake Michigan and The Fox Islands are spectacular! Getting to Beaver Island: The first stop is Charlevoix, MI, a Lake Michigan harbor city located approx 250 miles north of Detroit. You can also fly into Pelston or Traverse City airports and connect to Beaver Island Ferry (https://www.bibco.com/) or Island Airways in Charlevoix (islandairways.com). From Charlevoix take a quick 20 minute flight or the 2 hour leisurely ferry ride on the Emerald Isle. Either way, it's an amazing adventure! The link below lists all available transportation services getting to the island as well as once on the island, if you decide to rent a car or use a taxi/shuttle service the list provides options. https://www.beaverisland.org/transportation/ \*\*\*PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to bring your car over, you typically have to book in advance, we advise you call to make sure the ferry has availability before reserving to stay at our cabin\*\*\* When you arrive on the island you will find a place that will take you back in time. Slow, patient, friendly and Beautiful! You might want to stop at the Shamrock for a beverage after the ferry ride or take the scenic 20 minute drive straight out to Kelly's Point. Distance is measured by time on the Island, most of the roads have not been paved...it's just another way to make you slow down! When you reach Kelly's Point the drive in is through a wooded pathway into a vast open area with scattered trees along the perimeter. Kelly's Point was first built in the 1930's as an original island cabin. It is in the process of being modernized, There is a functioning indoor toilet, outdoor shower, kitchen sink and electricity. Kelly's Point is very charming, with spectacular views of Lake Michigan. It is 900sq. feet, has a great front porch, and a wonderful beach. All furnishings are new or local antiques. It is the renter's responsibility to bring their own sheets and towels. Kelly's Point has a charming decor with an open layout which includes 11 windows, overlooking Lake Michigan. There is one bedroom with one queen bed. It is a perfect getaway for 2 people! You may enjoy a good book overlooking Lake Michigan, walk the miles of sandy beach which are clear, pristine and unobstructed, take a swim in the clear lake water, explore the island and over 100 miles of roads, fish on one of the 5 inland lakes, roast marshmallows in the fire pit on the beach, admire the vast array of stars, discover some of the other islands in the Archipelego, visit the spa for a massage, play nine at the Beaver golf course, lounge on the patio, cocktails at Nina's, Donnegal Bay to enjoy the sunset, visit the CMU Biological center, or the 2 lighthouses on the island, Little Sand Bay, Iron Ore Bay or simply do Nothing! This is a vacation you will never forget and leave feeling truly rested. Waking up every morning with the lake view out from the window is the most perfect thing in the world! Tim and I loved sitting out on the porch and just taking in the scenery. The whole island has lots to see and lots to explore. We loved the hiking trails, protars cabin, the cute town, and the restaurants with it's delicious meals! And I genuinely loved using the VHS/VCR player in the cabin. I haven't used one of those in years! One night we were relaxing on the couch with the warmth of the fireplace, enjoying a hot cup of tea and watching 'grumpy old men. It was perfect! We actually had many birds right at the cabin! Although we were in "high bug season" the screens on all the windows allowed us to open everything up and enjoy the crisp spring air and the sound of the waves on the beach. This cabin is rustic, exactly as the advertising says, but is clean and has everything you will need. Keep in mind, there is no place for groceries, etc on the south end of the island. That would make many happy customers. In addition to bedsheets, I recommend bringing your own mattress pad, blankets and pillows. Maybe extra flat sheets for the couch and chairs. The living room furnitures are fine but cushions felt scratchy. Although we never really spent time in the living room. Back porch is a nice place to hang out and look at the lake. It would be nice to have comforter chairs to sit on. There is only one old chair with cushion and a plastic chair. Bring your own lawn chairs if you can. Kitchen is sufficient. There's indoor toilet and outside shower, which surprisingly nice. No snakes or mice that we can see. Few flies, no mosquitoes. Due to strong winds, the waves were very loud, that, at night, it sounded like a hurricane. The morning we left, the wind died down so the waves sounded like normal waves. Very pleasant. We brought our own vehicle and kayaks. We hiked few trails that lead to different remote beaches. All are just gorgeous. Cable creek beach, iron ore beach, Donegal bay, little sand bay, Bonners landing, karl erber nature preserve. We packed sandwiches and have picnics. We had dinner at Beaver Island lodge - way over priced. Will not going back there. Shamrock restaurant was good but still overpriced. Water was pleasantly warm enough to swim in. In summary, we had a very pleasant stay. You get used to the cabin after the first day. There was no tv and dvd player, which was fine because we didn't need it after all. Beach by the cabin is very rocky. Which is fine because I love rocks and sandy beaches are everywhere. All points are rocky and the bays are sandy. ##### Malati H. Séjour de 3 nuits en septembre 2022
