The city looks out toward Lake Huron’s broad beautiful waters, with plenty of culture and fun for all along the shore.

Stay in Bay City to enjoy food tours and great shopping. The city is close to Michigan’s natural attractions and has plenty of urban comforts as well.

Hop aboard the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum to learn about military history. Look inside the USS Edson to see what life was like in the Navy years ago. The tour includes bunk beds, the mess hall and interesting old technology. This ship was used during the Vietnam War and is one of only two remaining examples of its kind.

Splash about on the white-sand beaches of the Bay City State Recreation Area or take a fishing trip out onto the open water. During summer, stroll through some of the city’s parks. The Riverwalk Pier has spectacular sunset views and Carroll Park is a scenic place with plenty of children’s play equipment.

Gaze up into the mysteries of the universe at the Delta College Planetarium and Learning Centre. The whole family will enjoy the shows in the huge dome that features a 360-degree view of the galaxy.

Laugh your way around town on a unique sort of food tour. The Sunrise Pedal Trolley has room for 15 cycling adults and is a fun way to see some of the city’s best food spots, all while getting some exercise. Tour themes include food, wine, craft beer and photography, or you can create your own itinerary with your guide.

Shop at the Bay City Antiques Centre, which features both European and North American items. Browse the displays of porcelain, furniture, toys and kitchen goods. This is the largest antique centre in the state.

Continue the history theme by visiting the Bay County Historical Museum. Located next to City Hall, this is a great place to get up to date on Bay City’s past. Learn about the Ojibwa clans of this region, find out about the colonial era and pick up some interesting facts about the town’s modern history.
