Countryside Villa With Pool, Baschi, Italy

Set on the hillside looking out over the Umbrian countryside, this tranquil villa makes an ideal holiday retreat for friends or families who want to get away from everyday life. With thick stone walls, the villa is cool in the summer and cosy in the chillier months.

Laid out over 2 floors, the interior of the house has been beautifully decorated in a traditional yet contemporary style and can sleep up to 6 people. The front door leads directly into the spacious living room, which is furnished with 2 sofas, a wooden table and chairs, plus attractive antiques. French windows open directly out onto a shaded terrace. Stairs lead up to the bedrooms and a door goes to the separate dining room. The dining room has an open fireplace, another wooden table and chairs, and French windows out to the terrace.

The fitted kitchen, which is next to the dining room, is well-equipped with a cooker hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and Nespresso machine.

The house offers many outside sitting and dining areas, with a large ground floor loggia as well as an upstairs balcony where guests can enjoy a relaxed breakfast.

The large garden, which is well-shaded by tall trees, has been arranged with as much care as the interiors. By the pool, which is shared with the owners, guests will find sun-loungers, under a shaded pergola, a table and chairs.

Bedroom 1: On the ground floor, this charming bedroom has an antique double bed and dresser.
Bedroom 2: This first-floor bedroom has a wrought iron double bed, a spacious wardrobe, chest of drawers and French windows opening onto the balcony.

Bedroom 4: This cosy room has 1 single bed and a wardrobe.

Location
The villa’s location allows guests to explore the gems of Umbria as well as cross over into Lazio to enjoy the picturesque city of Orvieto (20 minutes). The small Medieval town of Baschi (5 minutes) is on the banks of the River Tiber and has several bars and cafés to while away an afternoon.

The lakes of Corbara (5 minutes) and Bolsena (20 minutes) offer activities such as angling, paddle boarding and swimming.

The hilltop city of Orvieto, which is famous for its white wine and stunning cathedral, is only 20 minutes away. It is the perfect day trip. Go on a market day (Thursday and Saturday) to experience the bustle of the local farmers coming into town to sell their produce, and pick up some of the best regional ingredients to use at home.

The capital of Umbria, Perugia is 1 hour away. It is well worth a visit, as is the famous town of Assisi (1 hour and 15 minutes) birthplace of St Francis and a site of pilgrimage.
