Our room in the budget hotel had a wonderful view of the waterfalls. The room was small but perfectly adequate for our needs. The bathroom facilities are shared but as we appeared to be the only guests it was not a problem and the showers are fantastic. It is only a very short walk to the ferry and bus terminal. Meals are available at the more upmarket sister hotel. The nearby Viking Village is a must see.

This was more like a hostel -- showers and toilets down the hall which didn't bother me one bit, just unexpected. The location was good and there were good food options nearby. The setting was truly lovely -- who couldn't love opening the window to waterfalls cascading nearby mountains!

Not worth the price
First off I'll start with all the bad things. This hotel is not worth the price. I paid $230 CDN for this place and stayed at much better hotels for the same price. This is closer to a hostel than a hotel. I have traveled alot and stayed in various hotels, and try to find decent places but nothing too fancy. I would have been ok with this hotel if I paid much less for it. Rooms are super basic, smelled very stuffy and its a shared bathroom accommodation (which I accidently booked). Check in is limited to only a 4 hour window. For the good things, having stayed in various locations with shared bathrooms, these were clean and modern compared to rest of the building and the hotel is clean throughout. The staff we did encourtner was friendly and polite. If you are absolutely desperate for a place to stay it is tolerable. If the price was much cheaper I would give it a 3/5, but due to the price this place gets a 1/5.

The bed was comfortable and there was a sink in the room. We knew the toilet and shower were down the hall and had no problem using them. My husband loved the shower space and water. Adequate for a one night stay.

Scenic but old
Staff was friendly and helpful. Stored our luggage for the day until check in time. Impressive scenery. But, building is quite old and a bit run down. Lock into building was tricky, but easy once figured out. Pricy for a shared bathroom.

This budget hotel was a good value. The location is exceptional and the views are fantastic. Using public transit was a bit challenging. Now I know to use the 950 bus and not the other buses that run to the area. I recommend this hotel for budget conscious travelers.

A lovely, spacious, recently refurbished room. Beautiful setting near the fjord. Steep stairs to the third floor room made access difficult. Breakfast offered by the hotel was expensive but a cheaper option was the lovely bakery / pizzeria nearby. There 3 dining options. The a la carte was not good, pizza good and 'Viking' diner, okay. Not sure I would return.

I liked the property a lotthe only inconvenient for me was that the reception is in another buildind and you have to walk on the streets to get to the building you are staying. Also had the 3rd floor and no elevator, but the staff was helpful.

Amazing location - so remote. There are 3 restaurants in the town and barely any people. It’s an incredibly quiet and magnificent location. “Budget hotel” is perfect for solo travelers. It is clean and steps away from the fjord.

This was an affordable option in the small village of Gudvangen, which is located in an area of stunning natural beauty. The room was bare-bones but clean, and the ensuite bathroom was newly renovated and had a very nice shower. Breakfast was not included, but there are multiple options available at the sister property Gudvangen Fjordtell, a short walk up the road. Note: You might want to try checking in at the Fjordtell before walking down the road to the Budget Hotel--we found out the hard way that we had to return to the other hotel and check in there.

A good budget option to explore the fjords. There is a washing machine and a microwave available to help keep cost down as well.

This is a good budget (by Norwegian standards, ming) hotel, we had a good time in Gudvangen walking and kayaking on the Nærøyfjord.

Location is not too good; I could not get a room in Flam by the time I started to look for one, so I ended up with this hotel. Getting here from Flam and getting to the hotel from the bus drop-off point was not good/easy. The words "Budget Hotel" are entirely appropriate here. For a solo, 1-night stay or a last-minute or cost-saving option, this is OK. I will not plan to stay here again mainly because of the location and the lack of surrounding facilities.

This is a basic, spartan hotel, good if you're just looking for a place to sleep and not expecting luxury. Its location is tops, right near the end of one Norway's most beautiful fjords, and it's one of very few hotels in the area. I checked in with a very friendly front desk person who spent a long time giving helpful tips for visiting the area.

We liked being away from the crowds in Flam. The hotel is homey and the staff helpful and pleasant. The scenery is amazing. Access to the fjord cruise was easy and getting back was as well. The only drawback was the lack of food choices but there is a grocery store.

It was absolutely fantastic. We flew into Oslo-Torp and drove straight there. They had no problem accommodating our late arrival. Due to construction in a tunnel, we ended up getting there much later than we were supposed to, but still, it was no problem. The woman waited for us all night and was there to check us out in the morning. I wish I could have stayed longer, the view was absolutely stunning and the room was very cozy.

Fin service å legge til rette for ankomst etter stengetid, men litt vanskelig å finne rommet. Hotellet er fordelt på mange bygg. Bedre om de hadde sendt en e-post med kart, og evt kode for dør. Rommet var veldig fint, bortsett fra litt løsnet tapet. Det var litt rart at det ikke var leselys ved sengen og arbeidslys ved skrivebord. Alle lys var på én bryter, sterke lysrør uten demping.

Hotel sans réception, celle-ci se fait dans la boutique touristique de gudvangen. Aucun service il n y a personne sur place. La chambre individuelle était de taille correcte. Un wc homme et un femme pourvl ensemble des chambres et 2 douches, c est pas suffisant. Par chance il y avait peu de minde a l hotel ce soir la. Cet hotel ne vaut que pour son emplacement a l extrémité du fjord qui est une splendeur
