The property was beautifully renovated character building in the heart of Assisi. Carmine and Lia were wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome. I would highly recommend this location.

Our experience at Il Granaio was excellent and we are very happy we booked our stay in Assisi with them and want to return.
The unit is brand new, very clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. Our unit had a kitchen with utensils, which allowed us to cook. There is a nice patio outside the unit, and access to a common area.
The unit was also very well stocked with items for breakfast, which we felt was a very nice touch.

Great hotel with privileged location. The facilities nice and confortable. The staff is courteous and kind. Always eager to help. Super close to all attractions and places of interest around Assisi. My only concern was the parking location. The closest one, which is very close walking distance (couple of blocks), is at 19 min drive around town because the transit restrictions. I’ll definitely stay in this hotel next time in town.

We spent 3 nights at B&B Cantico delle Creature and loved every minute. The location is unbeatable — tucked right under the old city walls, within easy walking distance of all the main sights: the Basilica of San Francesco, Rocca Maggiore, and Assisi's charming cobblestone lanes. You can trek everywhere on foot, or drive and use the designated parking spots nearby. Restaurants, cafés, and shopping are just steps away.
Breakfast was AAA — fresh pastries, local cheeses and cured meats, jams,...

Parking was a little tight on the property, but some guests used a large open parking lot across the street. The hosts were hands-on incredible, friendly and helpful. And then there was a daily breakfast buffet with fresh cakes directly from 'Nona's Kitchen'. OMG good. The Internet was strong and reliable and the SmartTV in our guest room allowed us to catch a few movies from our Canadian Netflix account by simply scanning a QR Code on our cellphone. Highly recommended!

Breakfast was artistically presented and delicious! Stunning valley view from our room! Church’s bells ringing in the valley below and birds singing. Winding stairs to room, no elevator. Comfy bed and linens. Bathroom small. Staff accommodating and efficient. Hotel on the edge of Old Assisi; perfect location! You are allowed 1-2 cups of coffee with breakfast; more than that will cost you.

The best area to stay in Assisi is within the historic walled city centre, particularly around the Piazza del Comune.
This central area is the heart of Assisi, offering convenient access to its most significant landmarks. The Piazza del Comune is a bustling square flanked by the Temple of Minerva and the Torre del Popolo, with winding mediaeval streets fanning out in all directions. You'll find a good selection of restaurants, artisan shops, and local cafes here.
Couples looking for a romantic and culturally rich experience will find staying within the walled city ideal. You're just a short stroll from the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and can enjoy evening walks through well-lit, historic lanes, often ending with a lovely dinner at a local trattoria.
For those prioritising easy access to the train station and a quieter stay, the Santa Maria degli Angeli area, located at the base of the hill below the historic centre, is a practical choice. It's home to the impressive Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, which houses the Porziuncola.

When is the best time to go to Assisi?
The best time to visit Assisi is during the spring (April to early June) and autumn (September to October) months when the weather is pleasant and comfortable for exploring.
During these periods, the temperatures are mild, making it ideal for walking around the town's hilly streets and visiting its many historic sites without the intense heat of summer. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular attractions like the Basilica of Saint Francis. The countryside around Assisi is also particularly beautiful during these seasons, with wildflowers in spring and colourful foliage in autumn.
For those who prefer a quieter visit and don't mind cooler temperatures, late autumn (November) and early spring (March) can also be good options. While some days might be a bit chilly, you'll experience Assisi with very few other tourists, offering a more serene and personal exploration of its spiritual heritage.
