We showed up after the office was closed. The board had our name and cabin number. The key was in the cabin. We had no cell service there and no way to use WIFI, if they had it. They didn't have a password for it. The cabin was clean.

If you are looking to unplug and enjoy nature, this is the place. The unique cabins offer excellent privacy and are kept immaculate and quiet. There is no cell service. They offered Wifi but we were not lucky to connect which we actually loved because it forced us to step away from the real world. Plus, being right outside the park entrance meant we beat all the traffic and had no lines.

I had an overall pleasant stay at the Gateway Inn in Ashford, Washington. One of the biggest advantages of this property is its location—being right near the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park makes it incredibly convenient for anyone planning to explore the area. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and really adds to the experience. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. There were a few drawbacks, however. The room we stayed in had a noticeable slant to the floor, which was a little unusual and took some getting used to. The internet service was also spotty at times, although the hotel does disclose this ahead of time, so it wasn't entirely unexpected given the location. Additionally, there were no TV channels available during our stay, which may be disappointing for guests looking to relax indoors after a day of exploring. That said, if your main goal is to enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Rainier and stay close to the park entrance, Gateway Inn is a convenient option with friendly service and a great setting. Just be prepared for a few rustic quirks that come with staying in such a remote and scenic area.
